Sydney’s Drum & Bass scene really is something special. What a community, and we’re very thankful to be a part of it.

25 years of @frictionpresents , 30 years of @kidkenobi.official and a high-octane Laundry from start to finish.

A lot of history in the room on Friday, with @kidkenobi.official digging through three decades within his usb, while the Cave kept it moving hard and fast with @jessi.lowkey, @__banno_ and @cece.dj in command.

Thanks to everyone who came through and made it what it was 🤝

Next up, @clv.party returns once more this Friday with London-based multi-hyphenate @ammaradj and local favourite @djpartigirl at the helm, with Headhunters (@guycontact + @solarsuite) and @amotikmusic rounding things out on Saturday. Spring has well and truly sprung, and Sydney is coming alive once more.

FRICTION FT. KID KENOBI - 30 YEARS [FULL VENUE TAKEOVER]

@frictionpresents celebrates a milestone of its own, marking 25 years of clubbing with a full venue takeover at Chinese Laundry. For this one, two anniversaries collide as Kid Kenobi joins the celebration for 30 years behind the decks - a night looking back at the music, dancefloors and communities that have kept both going for decades.

Three decades behind the decks, and it still comes back to the same thing: a love of the music.

@kidkenobi.official celebrates 30 years of DJing with a special three-hour set, reaching back to the sounds, records and energy of his earliest years behind the decks. He has a long history with Australian Dance Music, and of course here with us at Chinese Laundry!

For this anniversary set, Kid Kenobi is tapping back into that feeling - celebrating the music that started it all and the passion that’s kept him behind the decks 30 years later.

In the Cave ✨
London-born, Sydney-based DJ and producer @jessi.lowkey brings UKG, bassline, speed garage and old-school house to the Cave.

With releases on Garage Shared, a Beatport UKG Top 100 entry and support from BBC Radio 1Xtra and UKF, Jessi has quickly been building momentum on both sides of the globe. Her sets pair heavy low-end and UK-inspired grooves with the euphoric energy of ‘90s house - fast, bouncy and made for a packed room.
