Celebrating all the Aries homies in town with a lil’ old school kickball game. This was more fun than we expected. To the brave ones that showed up to play, thank you for acting the age you associate with and making us laugh so hard.

It’s our family tradition to attend SOTY and happy to see the global community of skaters continue to support each other. It takes so much failure and determination to do what they do. We are also super stoked for the younger generation of skaters that are carrying the torch like our son @julianbecerr1ll who skates and films here in SF and LA. Cheers to the young ones that are doing what they love unapologetically. Skateboarding is a very healthy outlet for so many and I hope those that have been against it start to embrace it.
Big congrats to @chrisjoslin_

💃 Rest in Rhythm, Mama Lily, Our Dancing Queen (1948–2025)

My mom, Lily Ann Forsythe (formerly Lily Koleva Stoyanova), passed away yesterday morning in Sonoma. She was born in Bulgaria on February 27, 1948 — a bright, dramatic, smiling Pisces who filled every room with her energy. When I think of her, I hear ABBA’s Dancing Queen. She was always singing, always laughing, always moving and feeling life to its fullest.

She met my dad, Blagoy, in her 20s and together they raised my sister and me. We came to the U.S. in 1985 and landed in Oakland — the same place she’s being cremated today. Life has a way of coming full circle.

After my parents separated, Lily built a new life in Marin, working as a dental assistant and dancing salsa on weekends — everyone adored her. Later, she remarried Scott Forsythe, who loved her deeply and misses her dearly. They moved to Florida in 2015 to enjoy the sunshine together.

In 2018, we started noticing changes — she began losing her English, then her Bulgarian, as dementia slowly took her from us. Sergio and I moved her and Scott back to the Bay Area in 2021 to care for her. It’s been four long, painful years — watching such a lively spirit trapped in a body that wouldn’t cooperate.

But yesterday, I held her hand as she took her last breaths. I played her favorite Andrea Bocelli song, and she slipped away softly — not dramatically, like I expected — but swiftly, as if she was headed to a party.

Last night, Sergio and I gathered with my sister Desy, my niece Amy, and my sons Chase and Julian. We lit candles, made an altar, cried, looked at old photos and laughed.

Baba is gone, but her spirit is free at last.
No more pain. Just music. Just light. Just dancing. 🕊️
