Schwerkraft und Gnade, 2024
Installation / Restaurant / Music

2026, Stiftung Sitterwerk, St. Gallen (CH)

“We have passed peak scale (2024)
the celebrities are old
the birkin has lost its power
no one lives forever
I want to be honest
but the truth is
I must win
I know there is peak performance and
my will is very big
but my skills are very poor
I am torn -
stay in resentment or turn around?
can I accept my limitation
overcome sampling and deconstruction?
obey a new realism!
love”
(Michael Walk)

„Schwerkraft und Gnade, 2024”, contains an installation, a restaurant, and music. A green playing field with art objects in a concrete room recalls a claw machine in a holiday resort. A giant crane performs an act of grace, while sacks filled with food are pulled to the ground by their weight. A drum set accompanies the visitors as they attempt to lift the food upwards. A kitchen situation emerges in the open gallery, while a cellist plays in his rehearsal room. Needs, fear, power, and social structures pull us down, while we try to counter these forces.

Astrid Seme (AT) at REDO
October 2–4, 2026
Prishtina, Kosovo

Astrid Seme runs an independent design practice, holding an MFA from the Werkplaats Typografie in the Netherlands and a diploma from the University of Applied Arts Vienna. With a strong focus on typography, the studio specializes in books and editorial projects, visual identities, exhibition design, and websites. Next to her studio practice she has an ongoing research in typography and its vocal dimensions; resulting in sound works such as Urbirds singing the Sonata or A Book for all Readers. The book has been widely recognized within the art and design community and was released in a second extended edition in 2022.
Together with Thomas Geiger Astrid also co-directs Mark Pezinger Books, a publisher dedicated to artists’ books.
