Seeing as we’re popping up in Frome, we asked our pal & Frome local @robbiewjwoodcuts for his favourite spots in town - it’s a really cracking list and we didn’t want to keep it to ourselves - so here’s a @robbiewjwoodcuts curated day out in Frome, in no particular order. 💕✨

And don’t forget, on the 16th of August we’re popping up at the gorgeous @rye_bakery cafe (Whittox Lane) from 12-4pm for our Lucky Dip mini Pop-Up Market. Come see some incredible makers, creators and curators, @robbiewjwoodcuts included, selling his wares. Put it in the diary, we can’t wait!😛

Kick things off at @ravesfromthegrave - Independent record shop, stuffed with vinyl, CDs and DVDs since the late 90s. Give yourself an hour (or more)

Round the corner is @saddlegoosewine. Named after old slang for a fool, from a time when people doubted England could grow good wine. Taste their sustainable organic wine and see just how wrong those people were. (We’re also obsessed with their branding)

@deckanddagger An excellent hobby store & tabletop gaming space!

Try on a few pieces at @arrowild.store for your next stomp up the peaks or surf trip to Cornwall. Carhartt, Finisterre, Redwing and more…

Then pop into @studio.neighbour and find beautifully curated pieces, new and old, to decorate your home

Grab your next read from this beautiful, independent small bookshop @sherlockandpages

A modern interpretation of a hardware store, @fromehardware has it’s own laser cutter tucked in the back? You may find yourself going in for a scrubbing brush and coming out with it engraved 😅

Pop to @palmerstbottle for a sit down. Craft beer, wine, an artisan cheese counter that’s properly good.

Halfway up Catherine hill you’ll find @mooandtwo where you can get delicious small batch coffee and loose leaf tea in a really cozy setting.

Last one, and it’s a big one. @rye_bakery cafe on Whittox Lane, the best bread, pastry and lunch and room for the kids to run around. On the 16th of August, 12

So, for this to be of any interest please scroll through the pictures and read on

Last week a man brought in 2 hats, at first glance they were pretty standard until I looked inside the top hat.

There I saw the makers mark S.B.ISAACS FROME , CATHERINE HILL

I googled the name and nothing came up ! I really wanted to find out the number of the shop the hat originally came from.

A friend @baillievintage done a bit of digging in his directories but found nothing. His directories only went back to the 1920s.

I went to @fromemuseum and asked there. The guys there were very helpful and found an old receipt which said S.B.ISAACS, hatters & hosier, dated 1989 and more importantly 14 Catherine Hill which is now @fromehardware and 2 shops up from us!

I asked to see if there were any pictures of Catherine Hill from that time! There were a couple of the bottom of the hill but none from the top to hand.

I left the museum and later done abit of scrolling through images on Facebook pages and from the museums Facebook page came the picture in black and white dated 1890s of Catherine Hill from the top with 14 Catherine Hill in the right of the picture and although you cannot make out a shop name im confident this is the hater & hosier S.B.ISAACS.

In the hat also is the name H.Cradock. Ive not gone into extensive research about that name but Google suggests that Cradock is associated with Cradocks tractors located just outside of Frome.

I find it amazing that roughly 120-130 years later this hat finds itself coming into a shop only 2 shops down from where it was originally purchased.

Not by any means our most valuable or rarest item but possibly our most interesting ever due to the connection
