THE GUN CLUB — October 19, 1984

Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Jeffrey Lee Pierce and the band appeared on Channel 4’s The Tube, performing “Eternally Is Here” and “Moonlight Motel”. A rare glimpse of the Gun Club’s dark, restless intensity in 1984. 🖤

My sister’s friend Rachel gave me a cassette of “Junkyard” by the Birthday Party when I was 11 years old. That cassette opened my mind to a lot of things, but most notably for me, that tape was my introduction to two of my favorite song writers of all time; Rowland S. Howard & Nick Cave. Anyway, it was a great pleasure to get to do a tattoo of the Ed Roth art from that iconic album cover! Thanks Sean! The black is healed, the color is fresh n bloody. #thebirthdayparty #thebirthdaypartyband #thebirthdaypartyjunkyard #rowlandshoward #tracypew #mickharvey #nickcave #philcalvert #anitalane #barryadamson #theboysnextdoor #releasethebats #nickcavetattoo #nickcaveandthebadseeds #theseimmortalsouls #crimeandthecitysolution #edroth #edrothtattoo #ratfink #ratfinktattoo #jinxproof #jinxproofdc #jinxprooftattoos

RIP to Australian musician Ollie Olsen. Ollie shouldn't be stranger to anyone who's familiar with Australian punk or post punk. He got his start in Punk bands such as The Reals and The Young Charlatans alongside Rowland S. Howard before forming his most known band, Whirlywirld. Then came Hugo Klang, his collab with INXS's Michael Hutchence, Max Q and countless other bands and projects. He will be missed but his legacy will carry on through the music he gave us. I can only hope Ollie and Rowland are collaborating again from beyond!

RIP
