this + a rainy day read🕯️🍂

A friend gifted me my first Frostbeard candle, and I was immediately hooked on their literary themes (shoutout to the Outlander candle!), so Frostbeard Studio sent me this one, Rainy Day Reads (fresh rain, ginger, lavender), to burn on a stormy autumn day 🌧️🍁

It’s the perfect scent for a gray, golden-leaf morning on the mat. Cards pulled, candles lit, a slow flow before the day starts.

What’s your favorite candle to practice or read by?

Ok so the last book I read by Jason Rekulak i LOVED but felt conflicted bc some ppl thought it was written with an anti-trans lens. Gonna give this one a try and so far I am really into it. I love all the local references to Philly and the Brandywine Valley!

Start your week off right by reading one of our YA picks from our Spooky Buyer’s Guide!✨

Bookseller Bo is shouting about Black Point by @jacqueline.west.writes! Read his review to find out why! 🦴

“Black Point, a historic Midwestern riverside town (fictional, but it just might ring a few bells...) is going to drown some day. The water levels keep rising, and the stagnant, small minded residents would do anything to preserve the place they love. Lucia is drawn into the mysteries the town hides by a strange boy from the city who has moved into the town’s haunted hotel for the summer. What could go wrong? Spoiler alert: a whole lot. From local favorite Jaqueline West, I was thoroughly gripped by this terrifying small town thriller.” - bookseller Bo 🖤

Did you know “cozy horror” is a book genre? I didn’t until now, but I’m here for it! 👻😂

Will you try it?

The Henchperson’s Guide to Unionizing by Marshall J. Moore is just that. “A mad scientist’s apprentice, a witch’s cat, and a vampire’s wife walk into a haunted mansion… Humor meets horror in this heartwarming tale of friendship, solidarity, and stolen body parts.”

And look at those stenciled edges! ⚡️ Thank you for the #gifted bookmail @bantambooks

Would you eat it right away or save it forever?

This Stars Hollow cookie was too cute to eat without a proper send off, so I lit a candle and found my coziest fall read for my morning reading time.

I bought two cookies from Boards and Buttercream during the Gilmore Girls Festival in Versailles, Kentucky. The other was vanilla and Dragonfly Inn-themed (RIP, gone too soon). I wish I’d bought more because they were both melt-in-my-mouth perfection.

I just received the cutest PR package for spooky season including a finished copy of The Henchperson’s Guide to Unionizing a week after its release day!

The Henchperson’s Guide to Unionizing by @marshalljmooreauthor is for anyone who is under appreciated, over worked, and under paid. Follow Igor and his new friends as together they find themselves. Out now!!!

I am currently 20% into the audiobook narrated by @the.ray.porter and it’s the perfect balance of cozy comfort and gothic horror. This might feel like an oxymoron but trust me it’s working!

I’m already a huge fan of @clichetea after being introduced to them at Romantasy BookCon last year. I’m super excited to try the Found Family variety!

The package also includes a delicious smelling candle from @frostbeardstudio, body spray from Bath & Body Works and super cute pumpkin socks from @sockfly!!

Thank you to @bantambooks for the #gifted finished book and amazing PR package. It definitely made my week!!

@frostbeardstudio gifted me their Oxford Library candle and I am obsessed — sandalwood, oak, and leather. It literally smells like the library of my dreams.
