For this week’s #MemberSpotlight we are excited to feature Fall 2025 Initiate, Josh Benalcazar! Josh is a rising senior at Florida State University majoring in Political Science and Business Management with a certificate in Leadership Studies!

Josh currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the FSU Interfraternity Council, where he organizes and oversees the operations and membership of the Risk Management Council and IFC Judicial Board while ensuring member organizations remain compliant with all IFC policies and procedures. He also serves on the 2026–2027 National IFC Advisory Council, a cohort of nine undergraduate fraternity men representing more than 6,000 chapters across the North American Interfraternity Conference. He helps develop IFC resources and inter/national policies, advocates for fraternity education and legislative initiatives, and mentors IFC officers throughout the United States and Canada.

Beyond his work in fraternity leadership, Josh serves as the Vice President of Florida State’s Class Councils, the programming branch of the Student Government Association under the Seibert-Teplin-Goodman administration. Josh has also made a lasting impact across campus as a member of the executive boards for Legacy Party and Order of Omega, as well as through his involvement in Dance Marathon and his service as a senator for COSSPP Seat #5 under the 77th Student Senate.

Hear from Josh below on why he chose to become part of Garnet & Gold Key’s century-long tradition of leadership:

“When I came to FSU, I knew I wanted to get involved in leadership and be surrounded by people who were passionate about making a difference on campus. Garnet and Gold Key has given me the opportunity to connect with student leaders from all across FSU, build meaningful friendships, and learn from people with so many different experiences. Through GGK, I’ve gained ideas and perspectives that have helped me become a better leader and make a greater impact in the organizations and communities I’m a part of. The relationships and experiences I’ve had through GGK have been some of the most valuable parts of my college experience!” 🔑❤️
