A successful vacation is one you’re still thinking about three months later. And I never shared Barcelona.

Being a part of the @stpetefl #beyondtherainbow campaign was such an incredible experience. I got to have so much fun creating a look that not just represented a color of the flag but a community of people upon whose shoulders I stand. Incorporating intricate pieces of people and history who have defined the Black Queer experience and the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights was so meaningful for me. I am, because they are. In the flag Black represents “strength”, just as these elders and icons do in history!

This Pride Month, the City’s Marketing Department told a story through color.

Each shade in the Pride flag carries meaning: identity, strength, healing, spirit, and more.

To bring those meanings to life, we invited 11 members of our local LGBTQ+ community to each represent a single color. Every participant became a bold expression of what that color stands for.

Individually, each portrait is powerful. Together, they form a full spectrum—a shared story, a community, seen in every color.

What started as a loose idea in my Notes app over a year ago has become one of the most meaningful projects I’ve ever been part of. I love my city, I love my community, and it’s been an honor helping bring this campaign to life.

✨ SPECIAL SHOUTOUTS ✨

@worldwideflan:
Thank you for believing in this idea and helping water it to fruition. For giving a queer person with a vision and a voice, a platform to tell his community’s stories. This would’ve been dead on arrival without your trust, leadership, creativity, and expertise.

From late nights with you, Maria, and me reviewing photo selections, to endless test prints, logistics, and everything in between, you were there every step of the way. A true ally, leader, and friend.

@fsumaria:
This campaign would not have been possible without you. Every image you captured felt intentional, meaningful, and worthy of the stories it was telling. Your dedication to your craft shines through in every photograph.

You helped create moments for people who don’t always get the spotlight and gave our community a chance to feel seen, celebrated, and loved. You made everyone feel comfortable, safe, and free in front of the camera, and for that, we’re all incredibly grateful.

Our 11 Colors:
Thank you for your courage, your stories, and the way you showed up for each other throughout this project. You are all so damn special, and St. Pete is lucky to have you.

And to everyone who helped along the way, thank you. This has been a labor of love, and I’m so proud to finally share it with you all.
