so proud of one of the goats of the ORS community dawg 💛

shemar pierre has one of the most experimental and industrial production style’s out of philly’s alt hip-hop scene and he’s someone we’ve been posting about since all of the way back in 2023. it’s been beautiful seeing him getting his flowers lately

from his production work for other major artists to his performance on his latest album “glory,” shemar has one of the most unique sounds in hip hop right now. that fact is evident on his hit track from “glory,” in the song “x-factor.” immediately starting off this track with a crazy distorted beat and an unintelligible sample made me feel like i was listening to music from a future society. shemar has a really in your face cadence that almost reminds me of the late “pop smoke” at times

this past year has been one of great recognition and reward for shemar. not only has his solo music been being received very well, he recently got the opportunity to write and produce for 21 savage and drake on the song, “mr. recoup”

it was so dope seeing his name on the credits for this one and a solo track that really reminded me of his work on that track was the song “national anthem.” with a little bit more synth based and less distorted industrial feel, shemar has a little bit more laid back flow that he’s able to sit back in the pocket of while letting the production take the focal point

the last track from “glory” that especially stood out for me was the track “harlem shake.” this track is so funky and infectious when it comes to its hooks. its not overly complicated, but it’s incredibly catchy and gives that industrial syncopated rhythm that makes shemar stand out so much in the alt hip-hop genre

shemar pierre has been making some of the most experimental alt hip-hop out of philly and it’s honestly crazy seeing how far he’s come since we started posting him in 2023. so proud of him

what do y’all think? did you enjoy his production on “mr. recoup?” do you enjoy his pop smoke-esque cadence? lmk below <3
