How is it STILLL NOT clicking- it’s super hard to pump gas as a wheelchair user so it’s important to find places that actually DOOO answer the phone when we call. Today was another win - and I was able it get someone to pump my car! Once again it shouldn’t be a literally gamble to know if you’re going get answered and get fuel service or not - we deserve better! I will keep you guys updated - I guess this is a series now!! Isn’t this insane? So happy we had a win this time 🥳🥳

I love seeing companies make their services inclusive and accessible! Today’s shout out goes to Shell! When on a road trip, I have always called ahead to a Shell gas station and asked if they could pump my gas for me, and they always say yes…except one time where the lady was NOT happy to help me haha but she begrudgingly did Now I can just use this app and it takes care of everything and is so easy to use! THIS is inclusion. THIS is accessibility. THIS is thoughtful. (this is NOT an ad or paid partnership, although I’m open to it Shell😉) Thank you Shell Fuel Service⛽ #ShellCanada #InclusiveAccessToFuel #BeanGill #FuelService

Oh I loveee accessibility that isn’t accessible ✨🤡 The sad truth is that this is the reality for so many disabled individuals yes, resources exist, but actually accessing them can feel like an impossible mission. They’re buried under paperwork, scattered across different agencies, or require hours of research just to figure out if you even qualify or they straight up ARE NOT THERE even when promised that they are. 🤡 And then, even if you do find them, there are often barriers that make them feel out of reach long waitlists, strict eligibility criteria, confusing processes, inaccessible websites, or people who make you feel like you’re asking for too much. By the time you’ve jumped through all the hoops, you’re exhausted, discouraged, and sometimes left without the support you were searching for in the first place. This isn’t just frustrating it’s harmful. It means people go without care, without equipment, without housing, without accommodations not because help doesn’t exist, but because it isn’t actually made usable. Accessibility isn’t just about physical ramps or captions on videos (though those are vital!). It’s about making sure disabled people can navigate the systems meant to support us without it feeling like a full-time job or a battle. When resources are so difficult to find or use, it sends a clear message: disabled people are an afterthought. That our needs are “extra,” not essential. And that’s not okay. We deserve more than the bare minimum. We deserve systems that are clear, simple, and inclusive. We deserve to be centered in the design of the programs and services meant to support us. Accessibility should never feel like a privilege we have to beg for it should be the standard. @shell @sunstopstores do better by us please. #disabilityawareness #accessibilitymatters #chronicillness #spoonie #raredisease

Our Virginia Beach Adventurous Weekend 2025 proved that an adventurous spirit has no limits! Over three unforgettable days, 45+ families impacted by spinal cord injury discovered the freedom of adaptive sports, the power of community, and the pure joy of making memories together. From waterskiing, kayaking, and wheelchair bowling to fishing and AdapTee Golf at Topgolf, the smiles, laughter, and breakthroughs were endless. For many, this weekend was more than just fun — it was a chance to connect with others in the SCI community and break through barriers once thought impossible. None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity of our sponsors. From all of us at Determined2Heal and SPINALpedia, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your support is not just funding events — you’re helping open the world to people with paralysis, giving families memories they will treasure for a lifetime. You have directly helped turn barriers into breakthroughs, filled hearts with hope, and your impact will be felt long after the weekend is over. 💎 Platinum Sponsors Marc Whitehead & Associates, Attorneys at Law LLP Team Kennedy Krieger (Kennedy Krieger Institute) Craig Hospital FuelService 🥇 Gold Sponsors Augmental Conquer Paralysis Now Numotion Foundation Restorative Therapies Driven NeuroRecovery Center Las Vegas Breit Biniazan 🥈 Silver Sponsors Bertram Law Group, PLLC Help Hope Live Rapoport Sims Perry & VanOverloop, P.C.
