☀️ One of my favorite artists, Benj Rowland, is coming east from Ontario! We share the stage this Friday at the Avondale Community Hall, address 50 Avondale Cross Rd, Newport, NS. 8pm.

🚐 Tour manager Dylan Jewers @bigturnips reading poetry to start. 🖊️

🎥 This clip is from 2024 when he, Carolyn Mark, and I did a two night residency in my hometown. He also plays Hurdy Gurdy, tenor electric guitar, button accordion, and synthesizers. Kind of epic. 🎶

⭕️ Can’t wait to head down to Full Circle country. @full_circle_festival

💿 This song is called Crossroads Jig and was written by Jamie Snider. It’s on Benj’s Community Garden album. Love that album.

🌎 Oh and he will also be visiting Fredricton, Sackville, West Dublin, Dartmouth, and Nyanza on the tour!!! Hope you can go!

ONE MORE SUNDAY ON THE SOFA… BEFORE OUR FINAL ENCORE! 🎶

What a wonderful season of live music, familiar faces, new discoveries, and Sunday afternoons spent together! ❤️

As we look back on some of the musical moments we've shared this season, we're getting ready to welcome two more incredible acts to the Artists' Landing Gallery for our second-last Sofa Sundays of 2026!

Sunday, October 18 • 3 PM

🎸 LEIGH WILLS
Halifax-based singer-songwriter and creative force behind alt-country outfit Bill Ricky, Leigh brings a beautiful blend of classic country, folk, and what she affectionately calls "woman rock." With just her voice and guitar, she'll take us back to where the songs began — intimate, heartfelt, and full of the waltzes, ache, and storytelling that make her music so compelling.

🪕 STEAM MILL BAND
From the Annapolis Valley, Alex Nemet and Annie Kados bring old-time folk traditions to life through clawhammer banjo and acoustic guitar. Alex, who also crafts custom instruments through Fundy Banjos, joins Annie for a warm, unhurried musical conversation rooted in a shared love of traditional music.

🎨 MUSIC SURROUNDED BY ART!
Our intimate Artists' Landing Gallery is currently home to the Avon River UNFRAMED Group Exhibition, offering a beautiful backdrop of locally inspired artwork to enjoy alongside the music.

💛 Admission is PAY WHAT YOU CAN! Everyone is welcome. Come settle in, enjoy the music, explore the exhibition, and help us celebrate another wonderful season of Sofa Sundays.

Only two Sofa Sundays remain this season - we'd love to share them with you!

My summer of touring has officially come to a close! ☀️🤘How spoiled I was by so much incredible music, amazing people, and beautiful places.

So much love to @elloriemcknight_music and @undertherocksband for trusting me with their music. Another awe-inspiring week at CMW @1313music_hfx , and much fun playing with #BorderGrassAlliance.

I am mortified by the amount of flying I have done over these past few months, but so very inspired by the intense experiences of community.

Thanks to all for the best hangs ❤️ So very excited for the next chapter...

This Sunday, we're delighted to welcome Ken Voita to the Yellow Sofa for the very first time.

Growing up in the mountains of northern Arizona, Ken brings a quiet poetry to the western music that shaped him. A lifelong songwriter and wanderer, his songs explore heartbreak and hope, solitude and joy, weaving stories that feel both deeply personal and wonderfully universal.

Ken's warm, reflective style is the perfect complement to the intimate atmosphere of Sofa Sundays, where every performance is an opportunity to slow down, listen closely, and connect through music.

Joining him for this special afternoon are our dear friends Factory Girls, returning to the Yellow Sofa where they first performed during our inaugural Sofa Sundays season in 2021. Together, they'll create an afternoon of thoughtful songwriting, beautiful harmonies, and memorable performances.

Sunday, August 16
Music starts at 3:00 PM
Avon River Heritage & Culture Centre
Pay What You Can 💛

Come settle in and help us give Ken a warm Avondale welcome while celebrating the return of Factory Girls. We can't wait to share this afternoon with you.

It's hard to believe that nearly five years have passed since Factory Girls helped launch our very first Sofa Sundays concert series.

After their performance in October 2021, they shared these words:

"The experience was a heartwarming one, with an intimate setting and a captive audience of all ages. The community was extremely welcoming and made us feel at home. We hope to come back someday!"

Well... someday is this Sunday. 💛

We're delighted to welcome Factory Girls back to the Yellow Sofa for an afternoon of wonderful live music in the warm, intimate setting that has made Sofa Sundays such a special tradition.

📅 Sunday, August 16
🕒 Music starts at 3:00 PM
💛 Pay What You Can

Whether you've been with us since the very beginning or are discovering Sofa Sundays for the first time, we'd love to see you there. Bring a friend, settle in, and enjoy an afternoon of great music and great company.
