Day 1466: Full of Fancy - Hermit Love 7”. Technically this is number 50 in the Art of the Underground singles series. I had a chance to get one with the wedding-specific sleeve, though, so I had to get it (despite not being at the wedding). I’m not sure how many of these they made and I can’t remember exactly how I got one. Maybe they sold them after the fact? Maybe I asked for a favor from a friend? Anything is possible. Full of Fancy was one of my favorite bands of the New Brunswick NJ pop/punk/indie scene in the late 2000s/early 2010s. There was so much positive anxious energy in their songs. and those harmonies! Erin and Miranda sound so great singing together. The A side is a lovely song about wanting to shut the whole world out and be with your person. The B side is a cover of the Descendents’ “Marriage.” Can’t argue with that. Now that I think about it, this singles series had a lot of excellent covers. I might have to do a deep dive on those one day

This Friday, 07/07/2023 at @saltysbeachbar in Lake Como (Belmar), NJ!

It's the first NJ show in over 25 years for legendary 90s NY pop-punkers EGGHEAD. featuring TV's @johnrossbowie & zine idol Mike Faloon!

It's also your last chance in 2023 until who knows when to see NJ's own classic indie-power-pop-punk trio @fulloffancy! If you didn't get to see them in Asbury or Queens last month, you don't want to miss them before they go back into hibernation!

A THIRD throwback is the appearance of 80s/90s NYHC goofballs @bugoutsociety featuring the one and only @pepsimoron AKA Bill Florio!

@mikeyerg, the king of NJ pop-punk and Egghead.'s number one fan, will be playing a solo set!

@freeezeheads will be opening, representing the best of TODAY's pop-punk out of the Hub City, and will provide a refreshing alternative to middle agers making too many jokes about their backs hurting or how hard it is to get a babysitter!

Doors at 7, Freezeheads will be on by 7:30, so don't be tardy! $15 cover, 21+

Please note, I am NOT DJing at this show, just promoting it, but even better, MY favorite DJ, @thedivine_miss_m AKA DJ Sara M will be spinning the tunes before & after the show and between bands, bringing a bit of the classic Asbury Lanes energy!

Thanks to @swank_ for the booking assist at Salty's, and be sure to check out/support the tons of other punk/HC gigs going on there from @shore_style_punk_night, as well as @mrfacerecords, @poormannj, and @stompoutnj! It's very cool to have another spot at the Shore open to booking punk rock in 2023!
