now that was silly!

first @cowichanvalleynightmare - starting a ride like this at 10:40PM is such a hilarious feeling. What a bunch of wackos. We technically finished a few kms short of the true Nightmare as we went to the Brentwood ferry terminal instead of Swartz bay, but we got still the full elevation pull in thanks to the hills of death on West Saanich road (a dark place at km 180 after being awake for 30hrs). My little diverge was a perfect steed. Comfortable, no mechanicals, no complaints. I love her. @redshiftsports cockpit was VERY nice to have, highly recommend. @fullonlighting GR1 light was a total pleasure to use; simple, compact, bright, excellent peripherals, and lasted hours. Also highly recommend. Both Canadian companies, and Full On is even more local! Woo!

A very interesting experience overall. Pace was good, legs were good. The first 100km was fast and easy. Fatigue hit hard around 120km but the climb up the Malahat snapped me right out of it (hello zone 5). Fueling was hard. It’s hard enough by day, but sleep deprived in the middle of the night is next level. My body was rebelling. Not sure there’s a viable solution for this lol. We pushed through, crammed the food in there, kept spinning, and I’m quite interested to see how I can improve next year 🤪
