I’m here at Fulton Stall Market, where the first ever jar of Mama Lam’s was sold, 10 years ago today!

It was right over here at their Saturday outdoor market, and we sold exactly ONE JAR that day.

Founded in 2015 by Stephen Dima and the legendary Bob Lewis, Fulton Stall Market is a non-profit indoor farmers market, operating year round, across from South Street Seaport.

Stephen now runs the annual, free-to-attend, Hudson River Blues BBQ Fest, while Bob is most well-known as the co-founder of Grow NYC and the iconic Union Square Farmer’s Market.

Aside from kickstarting Mama Lam’s, the market is a direct sales outlet for over 100 NY region family farmers and small-batch food producers, connecting them with the growing Lower Manhattan community.

October 24th, Mama Lam’s will be back here where it all started! Selling our jars alongside a host of other NY producers at the Saturday outdoor market, just as we were doing 10 years ago today.

But this time we’ll also be inside, serving the curry chicken & rice bowls that led to the formation of Mama Lam’s. And we’ll be selling them at those same 2016 prices, $10!

All proceeds will go directly to this great organization that gave Mama Lam’s its first opportunities.

With the County Show still going on I was on a Train to Manchester Airport, with the journey improved considerably by a gin and tonic from Shed One — always good to support a local business, even when you’re technically heading out of the country.
Then Heathrow, then New York.
There’s something rather exciting about seeing that first view of the city from the plane, knowing you’ve got a few days ahead of you to explore.
And obviously, because I am incapable of walking past a food market without investigating, there was a local farmers market on the itinerary.
I mean… what else was I supposed to do?
Different city, different producers, same curiosity about where the food comes from and the people who make it.

Today, @timeouttravel published a story about 40 of the world’s coolest neighborhoods. At #28, nestled between Oost, Amsterdam and New Farm, Brisbane, is New York’s Financial District – or “Lower Manhattan” as we’ve come to call it.

As any New Yorker knows, the area known as FiDi has gone through tremendous changes in the last few decades, transforming from a strictly 9-to-5 business district into a flourishing 24/7 neighborhood. New developments, new industries, more residents, retail options, cultural centers, bars, restaurants and third spaces have all contributed to the growing cool factor south of Chambers Street.

We’ve been championing the neighborhood since 1995. In other words, we liked it before it was cool 😎

Hello New York City!! Another glorious Saturday and we are out here at the Seaport Farmer’s Market in Lower Manhattan today until 4PM

This mini market is tucked away in The Burling Slip right near John St and South St. - directly across from the ferry.

We love this neighborhood gem which to be honest doesn’t have a lot of farmer’s market presence, but Robert and the Fulton Stall Market are changing that with this weekly market! Come support small business and stock up on your faves - anything you buy from us at the popup can conveniently be restocked at the Stall Market which is right around the corner 91 South St.
