As we battle with tabanca, we’re throwing it back to Notting Hill Carnival 2026!

Telling Tales is so proud to sponsor @funatikmas and @onturaj_mas, a band that understands the centrality of storytelling to carnival.

Every year, the band puts children and adults on the road. And our children’s band, @funatikals, won first place this year for small children’s bands!

Did you know that @funatikmas has one of the few traditional mas camps in the UK? People come together to eat, laugh and create the costumes you see on the road. They are a reminder that community is at the heart of carnival.

60 YEARS OF CARNIVAL 🇬🇾❤️💛💚

There’s something powerful about seeing Caribbean culture fill the streets of London.

As a Guyanese, I don’t see Carnival as just a celebration. I see the generations before us, the people who brought their music, traditions, food, stories and spirit with them, and created something that became part of the fabric of this city.

After the racial tensions and violence of the 1950s, Claudia Jones organised an indoor Caribbean Carnival in 1959. Then, in 1966, Notting Hill’s first outdoor Carnival took to the streets. What started with community, culture and connection has grown into 60 years of history @nhcarnivalldn. Born in Trinidad and Tobago in the 1970s, soca blended calypso with East Indian influences and became a defining sound of Caribbean Carnival. 🎶🇹🇹

And now we get to carry it forward.

60 years later, the culture is still speaking.
And we’re still answering. 🇬🇾🇯🇲🇹🇹🇦🇬🇧🇧🇰🇳🇻🇨🇱🇨🌴🎶

BLACK IN EVERY LIFETIME 🥰🥰🥰
Celebrating 60 years of Notting Hill Carnival with the women of @ukbftog and it was absolutely everything 🖤 The origins of the biggest street festival in Europe are rooted in Black resistance against systemic challenges that remain in place today for Black communities in the UK. In the face of challenging times and over-policing, this weekend was a beautiful display of the culture, creativity and impact Caribbean culture has had in Britain. You're welcome 🤗

I'm vex I didn't get everyone's @ or mas band. Please tag anyone/ band you recognise. Ty!

NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL 2026 D2. Genuinely, met the nicest masqueraders on the route whilst passing through the bands. They all had their own vibes and were so beautiful in their costumes (although one or two didn't seem to believe it until I showed them what I and the camera saw) . There were ALL gorgeous. Have a look at some without the massive back pack and still holding their own. BAD ON DE ROAD!

Please tag those who you know
