Meet the team behind BTC.

These are the coaches who’ll be in your corner every session. Between them you’ve got a Head Coach who has worked on tour with Ed Sheeran, a former Welsh national MMA athlete, 11 years of functional fitness and CrossFit competition, and a lot of podium finishes.

Swipe through to find your coach.

Want 1:1 coaching? Every coach on the team offers personal training, whether you want to learn to lift, get stronger, prep for HYROX or ATHX, or come back from injury. Find the coach who fits your goals, then DM us or ask at the front desk to book.

And over to you: Matt has given you two truths and one lie. Drop your guess in the comments.

Members!! A member only Weightlifting Comp at BTC. Saturday 5th December.

Our first friendly, in house competition. You don’t need to be an experienced lifter to enter.

Three attempts at the snatch. Three attempts at the clean and jerk. Your best of each makes your total.

No weight categories. We’ll weigh everyone in on the morning and use the Sinclair formula, so every lifter competes on a level playing field. Top three men and top three women take the podium.

This one is about having a go. Power snatches and power cleans count, and our coaches will be on hand to help you pick your attempts and get you through the day.

Members, come and test yourselves, or come and cheer on your gym mates.

Sign up at the front desk or drop us a message. [swap in your actual sign up method]

Stronger together.

Meet Dave, our Olympic Weightlifting coach here at Barbell Training Complex.

Our Weightlifting classes focus on the snatch and clean and jerk, working through progressions to build proper movement patterns from the ground up.

Each session is built around a main lift, then strength work alongside it, squats, presses, and other loading work to build the base underneath your lifts.

Classes run Mondays and Thursdays, two sessions each day, Beginners and Intermediate, so there’s a class to match your experience and a clear path to progress as your technique develops.

BTC Summer Throwdown 2026, this is what it looked like. 🔥

The energy in this room on Saturday was something else. Every pairing pushing each other, every rep earned, every judge call fair and hard fought. This is what BTC is actually about, not just the training, but showing up for each other when it gets tough.

To everyone who competed, judged, or came down to cheer, thank you. This is our community at its best.

Next up, HYROX SIM on 3rd October. And keep an eye out, another Throwdown is coming in December. 💪

Meet Coach Dave 🏋️

Dave leads the programming and delivery of Olympic weightlifting at Barbell Training Complex.

His favorite lift? The squat. Stronger legs and more explosive power benefit everyone, whether you’re a competitive athlete or just moving through everyday life. Want a good ass!

A lot of people walk into a weightlifting class and feel intimidated watching lifters throw a bar overhead and drop into a squat, but Dave’s first lesson is always the same: it’s not about how much weight is on the bar. It’s about learning the movement, building the pattern, and doing it safely. That’s what his class is built around.

Dave got into coaching because he’s passionate about helping people live their best life, and he believes movement, resistance training, and nutrition are the foundation that makes that possible.
