Here am I sitting in my tin can far above the Moon, Planet Earth is blue and there’s nothing I can do. 🌍💭

I still remember being 16, struggling with my sexuality and walking into Rainbow Hong Kong in Jordan. Nearly every weekday after school, I took the same routine and passed by Eaton, never imagining I’d one day work here.

It was there in 2008 that I met Shmily, HK’s oldest amateur drag queen, who taught me how to put on makeup and shop for second-hand wedding dresses. He showed me I could shapeshift into anything and be proud. Eleven years later, I curated a camp-themed party for Eaton HK’s Pride and invited Shmily to perform. That ignited a whole journey.

Over the past five years directing Eaton’s cultural programming, Pride Month has been my labor of love. Across 100+ events, it has been a deeply personal bridge connecting my own exploration with community building—co-creating alongside my inner youth and incredible partners to turn concepts like shapeshifting and queer temporality into a “touchable reality.”

Curating this year’s Pride exhibition, Offline Memories, with Anson Mak brought everything full circle. Looking at the archives, I saw my 16-year-old self in a school uniform. Seeing old zines resurface immediately collapsed time; the collective emotion of past Pride parades and the anxious 15-minute waits for HIV test results touched the real pulse of that era, reassembling my once-fragmented, resilient queer body.

Thank you to every partner, artist, and co-worker who joined us in carving out this flowing community over these five years. We refuse to walk the straight lines of chrononormativity. We are morphing, reorienting, and touching across time—and that alternative future we always dreamed of? We are already living it. 🪐🕸️🌪️
