It’s Sunday, October 11 th Rockers and Readers!! We are waking up, overwhelmed with gratitude for the extraordinary day we had yesterday !! Of course while I am busy putting the garage back together I have restocked both Little Ladybug Library and the Kindness Rocks Garden for the new day ! October 11th is National Coming Out Day and International Day of the Girl Child. Both extremely important to US.

Alyssa’s Wishes and the Little Ladybug Library is and will always be a safe space where all books and all people are welcome, valued, and celebrated. We believe everyone deserves the freedom to read, the freedom to be themselves, and the opportunity to feel seen, heard, and accepted. 💚🐞📚 #justbeYou

Jeanine Tesori @jeaninetesori is one of our favorite modern composers ✨and✨ one of the most versatile,

having written works from
🛋️ Fun Home to
🛼 Kimberly Akimbo
🕹️ to her recent opera at the @metopera, Grounded.

🎨 We wanted to share her thoughts on the importance of engaging with all kinds of singing instead of sticking to the labels we’re comfortable with.

The more we listen, the better artists we are (sound familiar, Meisner students? 👀).

Ode to a Gym Teacher debuted in 1975 on Meg Christian’s first solo album, I Know You Know, which was also the first LP released by Olivia Records!

Today we have Chappell, Renee Rapp, and Hayley Kiyoko… but back then the community gathered around crooners and their guitars like Meg, Cris Williamson, and Melissa Etheridge! Songs like this were some of the first to bring Iesbians together around music, and often the first time we heard our experiences represented in media. That was Women’s Music for ya!

This year, I spent my birthday at @museumofbroadway (with small stops at @disneystore and @houseofspellsnyc). It was a day filled with fun, magic, and most importantly, show tunes. 🎶🎭✨

It's been almost 2 weeks since our last theatre show and I am having withdrawals so I was looking back longinly at our past trips!

I was surprised at my opinions when putting this list together as were some shows I loved but just couldnt imagine seeing again. However, truthfully, our budget for theatre can only go so far and with how much amazing theatre there is out there were don't tend to allow ourselves repeat watches, but its fun to imagine!

🌟 WE COULDN’T BE PROUDER! 🌟

A huge congratulations to Reuben Shepherd from BEE Academy and Finley Litchfield from BOLT Academy on their fantastic performances in the hit musical FUN HOME at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester. 👏🎭

To see two of our students performing professionally in such an incredible production is something we’re immensely proud of. Your hard work, dedication and talent have truly shone on one of the country’s most prestigious stages.

You have both represented your academies brilliantly and inspired so many younger students who dream of following in your footsteps.

Well done, lads! 💙👏🐝

Now it’s time to put your feet up, enjoy a well-deserved rest, and celebrate everything you’ve achieved. We can’t wait to see what comes next for you both! 🌟

TEN ON TUESDAY: Demanding roles for child performers in musical theatre 🎭

We’re back once again with my other passion besides theatre: making lists! On the back of a handful of hugely successful productions featuring child stars, July sees us focus on those roles that demand a great deal from younger musical performers, calling on them to regularly deliver top quality acting, singing and dancing performances, often having to match the level of those around you who have years more experience.
