faisal (early) birthday cake!!! funfetti with raspberry custard and swiss meringue buttercream!!

this was definitely my most involved bake, and as is my typical fashion, i had put it off to the last minute and genuinely felt like i was in an episode of great british bake off. i’m glad that i had done a test run with this all beforehand because the recipes were fairly complex, and it really showed me the merit of practice. of course there are some things i’d do differently, but what is life if not a learning opportunity?

it was also the first 3 tier cake i’ve done and the first time i’ve experimented and added my own spin on the flavors and composition, and i hope to do it more in the future!! so it shall be!!

“God Of Funk” [2023]

I made this piece as a token of appreciation and thank you to my friend Faisal. I’ve been friends with Faisal playing music with him since freshman year of high school and this past year I reconnected with him when he came back to UConn for our final year of college and he became the kingpin of the music scene and the master mind behind the Funk Haus. Many great memories hanging out, going to his shows, and rehearsing with my band at his now very legendary DIY venue. It’s been a wild ride, but it ain’t done yet. Faisal is one of the funkiest dudes you could ever meet and one of the best there is. Be sure to say something nice about Faisal in the comments♥️
