More than a bakery, a space built around food, people, and ideas. 🥐

Funky began its journey in Barcelona with a simple mission: to become a home away from home. A place where handcrafted food, fresh, seasonal ingredients, and the beauty of simplicity bring people together.

Today, Funky has grown into three distinct locations: a deli on C/ Diputació 347, an eatery on C/ Bailèn 61, and a bakery at Passeig del Born 10. Each offers a different way to experience the concept, from house-made pastries and sandwiches to artisan beers, natural wines, and cookbooks.

At the eatery, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-inspired dishes meet specialty coffee from NOMAD, creating an offering that feels both creative and connected to Barcelona's food culture.

A key part of Funky's identity is the work behind Funky Bakers, shaped through collaborations with different chefs who have helped develop its culinary offering. The result is a concept where quality, creativity, and attention to detail come together in products that are as visually appealing as they are satisfying to eat.

Its reputation speaks for itself: on busy days, the Passeig del Born bakery can sell out completely. While the prices may sit at a higher point, the generous portions, quality of the products, and overall experience make it a place worth returning to.

Beyond the food itself, Funky also hosts events that bring people together, reinforcing its original vision of creating a space where gastronomy becomes a way to connect.

Because great gastronomy is about more than what's on the plate. It's about the concept, the people behind it, and the experience that keeps people coming back.

Barcelona is home, and I love discovering new corners of it and sharing my favourites ❤️

Together with Miiro Borneta we’ve put together a guide with some of my must-visits in the neighbourhood: @lariberasa, @fotocolectania, @funkyand.co (whose pastries you’ll also find on our breakfast table) and all those places that make this part of the city so special.

Save it for your next trip to Barcelona, and if you’re staying with us at Miiro Borneta, ask for a printed copy at check-in and go explore at your own pace.
