POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

September is here.

And sometimes, the thing that changes your career, business or next big move isn’t another course, application or strategy.

It’s a conversation.

A person you finally reached out to.
An introduction you almost didn’t make.
A room you decided to walk into.
A connection that turns into an opportunity.

So this month, don’t just watch from the sidelines.

Start a conversation. Make the introduction. Get in the room. Have fun too. No every time serious serious talk.

Happy New Month,
From all of us at THE NETWORKING SALON.

What can a bowl of grains teach you about curating?

In this exercise, led by facilitator R. Esinam Damalie @esinam_damalie , the participants in the curatorial intensive engage the act of curatorial embodiment.

By counting, separating, and arranging the mixed grains according to their individual tastes, predilections, and imaginations, the participants affirm the role of the curator’s physical, political, and creative presence in the art-making process. Notice how, given the same materials, they each arrive at different arrangements and formations, a testament to the ways in which meaning is shaped through choice, attention, and relational practice.

Congratulations to the 12 selected participants in “On Curatorial Practice For Marginal Regions, Displacement & Heritage In Contemporary Nigerian Art,” hosted with support from Gwaertler Stiftung!

During the intensive, this cohort will rethink curatorial practice through questions of heritage, marginality, displacement, memory, and regional knowledge systems.

The curatorial intensive responds to the imbalance within overriding narratives of contemporary African art, where metropolitan centres often overshadow the histories, practices, and cultural infrastructures of marginal regions and communities.

The program will take place at the Black Muse Residence in Benin City.
