My Lady Murewa Lauren Awode, MLA.

The joy of being your dad, your parent, is unquantifiable. I couldn’t be happier that you came into our lives and chose us to be your parents.

I vividly remember feeling your first kick while you were still inside your mum. Then came the continuous awareness of your presence, the anticipation of meeting you, and finally, seeing you light up the room and holding you in my arms as your dad.

You are such a delight—a joyful and smart missy. Trust me when I say you’ve got me, tooth and nail. Alongside Mum, I will keep fighting to give you the best of life, the beautiful life you deserve.

Your first year has been a blessing to us and everyone who has met you. Personally, you’ve taught me more than I learnt while earning my four degrees. So little, yet you have taught Dada so much.

Happy first birthday, my princess, Lauren. We love you so much, @murewasmiles . ❤️
Beautiful pictures freely sponsored by my wife and Mum♡ @funmicutie 🌹🤗😊

There are celebrities. Then there are advocates for change. Not just influencers.

And then there is Iyabo Ojo — the Queen Mother, who embodies all three.

Among her many admirable qualities, two stand out to me.

First, at one of the most divisive moments in Nigeria’s political history, when courageous voices are desperately needed to speak truth to power, she has remained unwavering. She has consistently stood her ground, defended what she believes is right, and continued to bear the criticism, backlash, and controversy that inevitably come with taking a stand.

The truth is, she could have chosen the easier path. She has every right to simply enjoy her success, focus on her career, and build a comfortable life for herself and her family. But instead, she has repeatedly used her platform to advocate for causes that affect millions of Nigerians. She has willingly absorbed the criticism that many others would rather avoid.

Second, at a time when Nigeria’s image has taken significant hits both at home and abroad, she is helping to rebrand the country through the power of storytelling. With her latest film, The Return of Arinzo, she has taken Nollywood to audiences across multiple cities and countries—New York, New Jersey, Indiana, Maryland, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Tanzania, London, and Canada.

That kind of international reach is no small achievement. It is cultural diplomacy in motion.

As someone who has consistently advocated for Nigeria and believes deeply in projecting the best of our nation to the world, I find this effort genuinely commendable.

Beyond every title, compliment, or grand expression, this is one of the many reasons she is rightly called the Queen Mother.

May she continue to soar, inspire, and remind us that influence is most powerful when it serves a purpose.

🇳🇬❤️

Met up with Iyabo Ojo in Atlanta recently — always a great time catching up with the queen mother herself. Her energy is unmatched, both on screen and off. Good laughs, good vibes, and family showing up in the moment in the best way. 😊❤️

During the week, I had the privilege of serving as an international judge at @decainc DECA, where over 15,000 high school students from across the U.S. and Canada competed in a dynamic business case competition in Atlanta.

I was genuinely struck by the depth of insight, confidence, and creativity these students brought—pitching and positioning ideas with a level of clarity that reflects the future of business.

Opportunities are everywhere—but it took my @funmicutie wife’s decisiveness to bring this one forward. Even with a packed schedule, I made it count—individually judging 40 students who inspired me deeply and truly valued the feedback.

Organizations like DECA continue to shape emerging leaders in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management—building not just skills, but mindset.

As a youth leader and entrepreneur, I left inspired. The future isn’t waiting—it’s already presenting.

I had an amazing day reconnecting with Apostle Femi Lazarus, a remarkable man of God who has impacted many lives. As fellow @greatifestudents alum, I'm proud of his leadership and devotion to God and humanity. It was a joy to have my baby girl @murewasmiles 🌹meet and receive a blessing from him. My wife @funmiphotography ❤️also had the privilege of capturing his essence through her camera lenses📸
