The worst and most unnerving part about depression is how the world loses its colour. It’s not even just being sad, it’s like coming home from work and just sitting on the couch in silence, kind of just waiting for the hours to pass. Like the volume has been turned down on your entire life. Everything feels flat, muted and grey. And it feels permanent. You genuinely start to believe the colour is never coming back. Getting out of bed, making a cup of tea, replying to a message.. it’s like trying to climb a mountain. You look around at people just living their lives, laughing or being excited about the weekend and you honestly can’t remember what that even feels like anymore. You convince yourself that this version of the world is just it now. But it really isn’t. And things do always get better. It never happens like a dramatic movie scene. You don’t just wake up to birds singing and a sudden burst of technicolour. It’s much quieter than that. Eventually either the weight gets a little lighter or you get a little stronger or maybe a mix of both. You take one small step that doesn’t completely wipe you out, and then another. And then, usually on some unremarkable, random Tuesday, you notice the leaves, or the clouds, or the flowers, or the sun on your skin. The colour starts coming back. It was always there really, just waiting for you to have the bandwidth to see it again.

My song Better Days is about this moment when things start to feel a tiny bit better. A tiny bit brighter. And I hope it helps someone to start to notice the colour again. I haven’t got a release date set for it yet, but I am performing it on Saturday night at the @listenupmusicorg Songwriter Award finals at @blackwattlebrewery in Alexandria. I hope you can come 😊

I put a lot of effort into the phrasing, structure and flow of my sets, and I really enjoy creating and curating storylines or journeys throughout my sets. Because no matter how good your song selection or transitions are, mixing into the right part of the phrase or carefully curating the order of songs can make ALL the difference to the energy of a set. ✨ Here's a little wordplay I did in my most recent mix, but if you want to listen to it in full, you can find it on my SoundCloud (link in bio). 🐸💚

6 months ago, I was crying on the floor at work. I went home that day and decided that I needed to realign myself with more of what makes me happy. And that's when this all started.

This mashup x long transition is one that I really enjoyed playing and creating, and one that I'm pretty proud of. It was also one of my favourite parts of the set that I played a few weeks ago at @obnoxious.aus x @nobuoys GIRLS NIGHT IN.

tiffany’s an artist we’ve covered and her run is just getting bigger after this vevo set 🏃‍♀️

after starting out on youtube, tiff quickly gained a following as one of the most authentic and sincere artists in hyperpop, especially over the past couple months

tracks like “everything i’ve ever wanted” from her lates album “halo” show off a very vulnerable and sincere side of an artist grappling with still feeling unfulfilled even after her dreams come true. stripped back production and lyrics like “if this is everything i’ve ever wanted why does it feel like something’s missing?,” really give this somber and shocking sound

“pretty4u” is another track that explores deep insecurities, but this time about physical looks. it’s an insecurity that a lot of people share. it’s almost funny because the beat is so electric and upbeat, but the actual lyrical content explores wanting to constantly be wanted because of your physical appearance. it’s an emotionally intelligent lyrical track that would sound great in a live set setting

the last track that really stood out to me on this album was “american girl.” the production on this track has to be my favorite on this project. the thumping bass with the little 8-bit glitchy instrumentals is just so addicting. she really dives into concepts of race and not feeling like a typical “american girl” due to being of chinese descent. she takes a lighter approach on the heavier topic through this upbeat track
