Play Play Play is an open-access risograph print studio in Birkenhead run by graphic designer Mark Simmonds @kimmdrossman

Risograph (or ‘riso’) is a sustainable, low-cost digital print process originating from Japan in the 1980s.

Riso prints are rich in colour, texture and have a retro look, ideal for DIY music flyers, sleeves, posters, zines, badges and stickers - come along, have a go and find out more!

It's a wrap! Congrats Cady, Atlas and Cerys for a fun exhibition @future_yard

The exhibition opened for Art After Dark and featured an exciting mix of the BA (Hons) Illustration and Animation yr2 students' character design, illustrated posters, animation screenings, sketchbook development, and 3D work such as hand‑crafted puppets.

Still buzzing from Art After Dark! ⚡️

We’re looking back at the magic created across all 18 venues last Friday. From gallery exhibitions, creating your own piece of art, to photoshoots in bathtubs, there was truly something for everyone.

Today is the last day of this years Onomatoposter exhibition at @future_yard

There will be a 30 minute quiet browsing from open.

Then vinyl playing all through the day.

🌙 ART AFTER DARK VENUE ANNOUNCEMENT: @future_yard

Next up for the Art After Dark trail on Friday 20th March is Future Yard, hosting a Student Showcase in their Future Walls gallery space.

This exhibition features a selection of work from three second-year Illustration with Animation students at @wirralmetcollege . 🎨🎬

What’s Happening:

The showcase brings together projects ranging from character design to short animated pieces and visual storytelling. These artists move between still and moving images, combining traditional methods with digital animation to explore how stories exist both on screen and on the page.

This show is a snapshot of where these students are right now: experimenting, refining their styles, and pushing their ideas further. Come along to support local emerging talent and see their shared passion for the craft.

We’ll be back at @future_yard Saturday 14th March in the live room for the annual poster market.

As part of Onomatoposter we bring out a whole bunch more posters from various artists all for sale.

We’ll be open from 11-4pm with vinyl playing through.

Apart from the first 30 mins reserved for quiet browsing and shopping times for those that work better in quieter spaces.

Future Yard Is Growing... + 48-hour Live Show

Six years ago, we got the keys to 75 Argyle Street and the Future Yard journey began its current phase.
Since then, we've had almost 900 shows, hosted 3,500+ artists and welcomed 120,000 music lovers. 72% of visitors say we've changed their perception of Birkenhead for the better.

But here's the truth - demand has outgrown our building. We need a bigger boat.

Something big is coming. Join us to #buildourfuture

Also - we want to hear from local musicians and artists to take part in our exciting 48-Hour Party People continuous live gig. Join us between 6th and 8th March 2026 for a full-on celebration of everything Future Yard.

This week we are back @future_yard helping to put up the next edition of @onomatoposter and this year we’ve got a great one line up, focusing on the great work that @printsofthieves produce for a whole bunch of our favourite artists.

To top it off we’ve got the excellent @pulled_apart_by_horses playing the launch night.

Can’t wait to be back filling that yellow room full of incredible gig posters ❤️

If you can’t make the launch drop in on the Saturday where we’ll have a whole bunch more posters up and for sale in the live room from 11-4pm.
