Get to Know Queer Expression St Pete 🐊🌟🦋🌈✨🍊🫧🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

★ Values ★

Queer Expression St. Pete (QE) is a horizontally organized, trans-led mutual aid group that provides multigenerational community spaces for queer and trans folks in Tampa Bay. Here, individuals are introduced to the restorative effects of contemplative and creative practices to manage the impacts of trauma.

QE operates Tampa Bay’s only active LGBTQ+ community center, The Nest, which is located in south St Pete. The Nest’s rent and utilities are ENTIRELY crowdfunded by donations from community members ranging from $3-$250/mo.

QE serves as a vessel for queer and trans folks to both build and share resources by developing free programming that introduces community to the restorative effects of contemplative practices.

Contemplative practices refer to a range of mindful activities aimed at cultivating awareness, improving emotional regulation, and emphasizing the interconnectedness of all things.

Engaging in contemplative practices encourages transformation and self-examination, which are essential in order to collectively, fundamentally shift our existing societal structures. These practices are also great burnout prevention for community organizers/activists.

As a collective, we have refused to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, allowing us to prioritize mutual aid and radical healing over institutional norms.

Nobody directly profits off of our work. This is an incredibly important distinction, as we refuse to feed into the Non-Profit Industrial Complex that neutralizes radical practices to make them more palatable for the masses. These organizations maintain a status quo that is harmful to the communities we actively fight for.

By remaining independent of 501(c)(3) status, QE is able to avoid influence from donors, corporations, or government entities. This autonomy allows QE to maintain full control over our mission and activities.

FUTURITY by @queerexpressionstpete is BACK AGAIN 🧚🏽🌟🌀 Meet us on Saturday, April 25 from 6pm ‘til 9pm at 2200 1st Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL 33712 @theruyaco

The theme is…SPELLBOUND🌙🌿🔮🐇 Magic is everywhere!!! Think celestial patterns, whimsigoth style, velvet, and glitter.

@dylandames will be performing an elevated acoustic set and @postphysique will be DJ’ing ★

Don’t worry about squeezing in dinner time before the event starts at 6pm! @thebirriabros will be popping up with their Palestinian Mexican fusion 🌮✨

We are saying NO to vendor fees for BIPOC creatives in Tampa Bay! Indigenous people should not have to PAY to sell goods on STOLEN land. Black artists deserve reparations, NOT to be charged exorbitant vendor fees.

Come support our local BIPOC vendors…

the last few days have been a wild trip 💗 insanely filled with art, love, and all the people i admire telling me that they're proud of me 🥹💝

✨️ some of the highlights ✨️

🛍 @madeby.sunshineatmidnight signed it's first contract and you can find my art in @cornerhaustpa officially starting in April

🌟 @futuritypopup hosted by @queerexpressionstpete was so lovely last night, so much love for this community

🎙 was gifted tickets with my girls for opening night of Alicia Keys' @hellskitchenbway show @strazcenter from @bizchicamedia 💝💝💝 thank you guys SO MUCH for the care and consideration you showed to our babe @jahmaicanese_ in such a crazy time

👯🏾‍♂️ had a spring break college reunion with some of my favorite woman, who reminded me of the kind of love and support that shaped me into the current human that I am

🐟 celebrated my sister's birthday with a couples massage and the @sounds.oftheocean 360 dome show @mosi_tampa that literally relaxed us so much there may have been a little bit of snoring in both activities 😅

📊 over 3 million people saw a silly video I made featuring my artwork and repeatedly sold out multiple listings on my Etsy and blew up my IG. my art will be living in homes all over the country by next month. there's over 10,000 additional people here now. I hope you liked this lil mini introduction to who I am and a snapshot into my life
