Parts and Labor - Arterial Material
Directed by Charlie Kail (BFA Photography, 2026)

In early 2026 Parts & Labor asked Nicholas Chatfield-Taylor if he’d like to collaborate on another music video, after having previously directed the videos for “The Gold We’re Digging” (2007) and “Echo Chamber” (2011). Nick instead proposed a video for every song on Parts & Labor’s new double album, with the videos being directed by the students of the Media Arts Strategies class that Nick teaches at Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

The class focused on music videos as a medium in which to investigate ideation and aspects of the creative development process. Students collectively and individually made various drafts of ideas, eventually each working towards a final video. Members of the band gave a lecture on the history of music videos, while providing feedback and support to students.

Parts & Labor will be releasing several of these videos in the coming weeks, and are grateful to both Nick and his incredibly talented students.
