One more thing I did while I was out with the @lakecountyairgunners was to really put the @dopespin through its paces to see how well its predictions lined up with things in the real world. It starts with the airgun. In this case my @airmaksarms Krait MKII topped by an Element Optics Helix. I zero’d at 30 yards, and fed all the data into the unit. It’s critical to have all the right info, or as my IT friends would say, garbage in, garbage out. I used the new FX Pocket Chronograph Pro to get velocity and BC data. You need measured BC! Feeding in generic data from the internet will not yield usable results. Once you have the profile set it’s literally as easy as ranging and spinning the ring on the DopeSpin unit. The dialing solution is in green. I had first shot hits at 52, 76, 107 and 127 yards. You can’t ask for much more than that. One of the great things about the DopeSpin is that it holds an unlimited amount of profiles. It also doesn’t have to connect to anything to switch profiles. It’s actually self contained.

This weekend at the PRS Rimfire National Finale was a great one. Everything about it was memorable. @kmprecisionrifletraining is an amazing venue. I can see why everyone raves about it. I was super fortunate to stay on site in the Lodge with great group from the TN and AL area (could be more). Thank you to Manny for being our chef for the weekend. He brought his smoker and spoiled us. This match was one of the most challenging I've ever shot. Tough but fair COF which the wind made punishing. I dropped 14 each day. Even though Sunday was technically better conditions, it started off colder and bucked me for a stage when the sun really warmed things up. And the wind showed as well for the second half of the day. I want to say I learned some things this weekend... but even so, sometimes the conditions still kick you in the teeth. Growth takes pain ya know? My performance was good enough for 6th place in the match, and more importantly (and surprising to me) 6th place overall for the season points race. I was really after one of these bullets this year, and I'm humbled to have got one. I made the choice to shoot Open this year. But I've shot my air rifle most of the season, including the finale. There's still some weirdness with the different series and how they handle divisions... But I kind of wanted to make a point also. We are competitive now. The chassis I run and the awesome cerakote job by @milhouse_holdover ... not a lot of people noticed ( cough @prs_rimfire cough ). I hope that changes. Thank you to everyone that I've shot with this year. You ALL make me better, and I hope I can do the same for you. Thank you to anyone that's supported me in any way. Thank you to all the volunteers throughout the season, in all venues, that make events like this weekend possible. Thank you to sponsors of the sport. Your contributions don't go unnoticed. Thank you @masterpiecearms for the Elite action cert I got on the prize table! Couple shout outs for the gear that's got me through the season: @fxairguns and @utah_airguns - FX Panthera MKII @delta.forceofficial - Panthera v2 chassis @celticprecision - Carnyx Halo w/ Druids blend @altaros_airguns - ATP King slugs
