A year ago I thought I had to walk away from marching band forever because I wanted to give up. I remember crying as I walked onto the field of Western Illinois University thinking it would be my last performance ever. I was ready to give up on the passion I have had for 7 years because of my situation at the time. I spent numerous nights crying knowing I was giving up when this has been the only thing I’ve cared about for so long. Marching band had put me through one of the hardest obstacles of my life and I will never forget that. I’ll never forget the decision I made one day to turn everything around and give my last year one more shot. I’ve never been more positive to say that I’m so grateful I was given a second chance by multiple people who gave me the support I needed to finish my senior year. This has been my life for 4 years and without marching band I don’t know who I will be. I’m so grateful to be apart of the 4 best shows this school has produced and it kills me to know I’ll never march for FZN again but if I had the choice to do it again I’d would in a heartbeat. Knowing that I went from crying at Western Illinois for what I thought was my last year to winning grand champions one last time is a memory I’ll always cherish. I couldn’t have done this without my class and the amazing band boosters🫶🏼 I’m proud to have been apart of the best band in the land💚
