You can find traces of an abandoned railway line hidden in Maju & Clementi Forest.

In the 1960s, as Jurong transformed from swamps and rural settlements into Singapore’s first major industrial estate, the Jurong Railway Line was built to transport raw goods from Malaysia to the new factories set up there.

But by the early 1990s, the trains had stopped running.
Why? This place, Got Story One.

“Thank you for your support, all these years.”

For the last 58 years, William, better known as ‘Boh Geh Uncle’, would wake up at 3am to begin preparing for another day at Canteen 398.

Standing since 1969, the canteen served as the Corporals’ Mess when Seletar Camp was still a British Royal Air Force Base, and now serves the military personnel from Seletar Camp and workers in the area.

The canteen will close for good on 18 September 2026, so if you’ve never visited, come and experience Singapore’s last kampung canteen before its story comes to an end.

Did you know about Singapore’s original Grand Prix Circuit? 🏎️🏁

In the 1960s, the Thomson Road Grand Prix Circuit was one of the most dangerous street races, with sections named “Murder Mile” and “Devil’s Bend”. Spectators used to line up along the entire circuit to catch a glimpse of motorbikes and cars roaring past.

In Thomson Nature Park, you’ll find the conserved ruins of a former Hainanese kampung, once home to generations of families whose farms and plantations shaped the landscape from the 1930s to the 1980s.

“Sometimes messy, always worth it.” This tagline from National Family Festival 2026 @familiesforlife could not have described these two scenes any better.

A grandma patiently guiding her granddaughter through a delightfully messy baking session. A couple laughing, teasing and figuring out a piece of furniture together…

That’s the thing about family, isn’t it? 😇 There will always be a little mess, a little banter and the occasional frustration. But at the end of the day, it’s those ordinary moments shared under the same roof that become the memories we hold closest 🫶

Once again, I am beyond grateful to have been part of a campaign that celebrates families for who they are.
