We’re excited to present Creosote Stories: Seeding Planthroposcenes in Northeast Houston, opening this Friday, November 4th, from 6:30 to 9pm at the Rice University Solar Studios. Eventbrite link in our bio.

Creosote Stories invites us to consider the legacy and future of the creosote plume in northeast Houston the different narratives that made the wood-preserving industry possible. Following the story of creosote takes us back to the closing of the frontier and the expansion of the timber industry, the pseudo-science of race and the messy inventions of chemists, the southern labor that pressure treated railroad ties, all marketed as a safe, cost effective way to conserve forests.

Join us from 7-8pm for a reading and conversation with author Kathryn Savage and Houston artist and writer Willow Curry, as they consider the process of using personal stories to investigate superfund remediation and healing.

Our communities are definitely under attack! It’s never to late to speak up and speak your truth! OAF started because we didn’t have resources. Research what I say and teach me what you learn. www.ourafrikanfamily.org

Type Cleme Manor Hub on YouTube and tell me if anything has changed. This is what Kelley Village and Clayton Homes tenants experience as well. When the impacted speaks who listens? When will the change begin?
