Beyond blessed for all the memories and friendships I’ve gained over the last 10 years from this sport. I wouldn’t have asked for a better group to go out with. Thank you, Fredericktown.✝️

“Not done yet,” as Fredericktown Varsity basketball coach put on the exclamation point with the locker room speech after the 72-35 dominating win over Mount Gilead. The Freddies capped off a 22-0 perfect regular season in the home victory as they showcased their bench wide talent to a gymnasium of areawide fans Tuesday night.

It wasn’t just a season in the making, but history in the making perfect and a fourth straight KMAC championship for Fredericktown.

From the whistle to the whistle dominance by the Freddies never ceased on either side of the ball. Defensively they held the Indians scoreless for almost 9-minutes before the ball would pass through the net. Fredericktown did well at limiting looks at the hoop and kept them to the outside. Defense was tough, rebounding made the difference, with speed and endurance the enemy to Mount Gilead. Midway through the second quarter, the Indians were able to post some points, but they were answered every time by Fredericktown.

The second half of the game, the Freddies worked down through the bench to get more reps for the jayvee and bring their seniors in off the court. Substitutions made no matter as Fredericktown continued to outscore and although not the same tempo, they set the pace on the court.

Leading the scoring for Fredericktown was Carson Rinehart with 17-points, Gavin Toombs with 16-points, Blake Sipes and Zane Luckmeier had 8-points each on the evening.

Leading Mount Gilead was Gage Baker with 8-points.

Fredericktown begins their post-season run on Saturday at 1:00pm against the Marion Pleasant Spartans.
