G Shock of my era. GA-100-1A1 Introduced during G-Shock’s big-case analog-digital era around 2010, around the time I bought my first watch. The GA-100 became one of the brand’s recognizable modern tool-watch designs. At 51.2mm case size, subtle wasn’t the objective. Shock resistant. 200m water resistance. Magnetic resistant. World Time. 1/1000-second chronograph. Speed and Mach indicators. More than 15 years later, Casio still sells it. My search for one was simple, blackout, white hour/minute markers, analog-digital with a bunch of specs. I still remember going shopping with the GMAP-2100 in mind — the slimmer, octagonal model that became one of G-Shock’s modern icons. But after comparing the two, I went in the opposite direction. I chose the GA-100 for its unapologetically oversized, busy, early-2010s G-Shock look. If I was going to own a G-Shock, I wanted it to look like a G-Shock. I also think enthusiasts and casual wearers alike sometimes underestimate just how much watch you’re getting here, especially at this price point. The specs, durability, functionality and sheer longevity of the design make the GA-100 pretty remarkable for what it costs. Not complicated horology. Just classic G-Shock overengineering @gshock_us #gshock #casiogshock #casio #casiowatch #gshockwatch
