Saturday night still hasn’t fully sunk in. Standing on stage with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra for the world premiere of the Double Concerto for Guitar and Zhongruan, on National Day, was one of those moments where time both stretched and disappeared all at once. There’s something singular about being part of a piece’s very first breath in the world, no recordings to compare to, no interpretations to follow, just the score, the orchestra, and trust. And to do it on livestream, in a hall full of people celebrating something bigger than any of us individually, changed the weight of every note. To the @singaporesymphony and the entire National Day Concert team, for building the platform this premiere lived on. To @lienboonhua for conducting with such clarity and care, steering a brand new work with total confidence. To @runningruan for writing such an intentional piece that let the guitar and zhongruan explore identity and discovery of self, and for trusting us to bring it to life for the first time. To the Esplanade team, the crew and the sound engineers who made sure every detail behind the scenes was invisible in the best way. To my team hair/make-up @benjioo and stylist @ga.bae.bee thanks for pulling this look together! ✨To @singaporechineseorchestra and my colleagues whom supported me through this, I’m so lucky to have you guys. To my friends on stage, who I felt beside me all night. To everyone who showed up to watch and cheer us on, you gave this premiere its heartbeat. And finally to @kevinlohguitar my partner in this from the very first read-through. Sharing this stage, this piece, this moment with you made it what it was. Grateful doesn’t quite cover it.
