Quick girls trip✨💃🏻🎭 San Diego to see Regency Girls at the Globe Theater — and let’s just say it hit the Stay Forever Gold sweet spot. A Jane Austen-style girls trip comedy with a sharp, timely message about women’s choices, friendship, and claiming your power? 🔥Yes, please. Elinor is pregnant, unmarried, and stuck in 19th-century England — so what does she do? She calls on her best friends and sets off to rewrite her future. It’s funny, moving, and somehow both totally current and completely classic. The writing, acting, and music had us in awe (“Can you believe this shit’s still happening in 1810?” might be our new favorite lyric). After the show: cocktails, dinner and great conversation with sunset views in La Jolla at George’s at the Cove, toasting to female friendship and the way women show up for each other- century after century. Do yourself a favor and head on down to @theoldglobe in San Diego to catch #regencygirls, the laugh out loud hilarious new musical about many things including how difficult abortion access is... in the 1800’s! Amazing young cast, great songs, and a hilarious book by @veephbo writers @jencrittenden and @gaballgreen! Saw it Saturday night and the older gentleman sitting next to us was shocked and also laughing, so who can ask for more!

There’s nothing I love doing more than making a new musical. To get to do it with this insanely talented and ridiculous group of silly gooses and learn from the fiercest comedic geniuses every day for the past two months has been the biggest gift. Tons of love to this beautiful cast who have not only worked their asses off, but have also filled this experience with belly laughs, countless bits, and so much love. I’m so grateful to the incredible, hilarious, and huge hearted word smiths that are @gaballgreen and @jencrittenden for building a big beautiful world and handling Scutter with such care and love- and for trusting me to help shape the way we share his story with the world. Getting to sing @amangreen’s hilariously clever lyrics over @curtisrustic’s sweeping score brought to soaring heights by his and @samps42 orchestrations each performance brings me so much joy and I love watching audiences fall in love with it. @patricksulken you’re a dream of a music director- your kindness and patience is absolutely unmatched. Thank you to @rlg24, @becausenicoleh, and @fiedlerontheruf for leading us into this gorgeous chapter of the show and supporting us along the way. @joshrhodes1115, @leeawilkins, and @dababadoo - the way you center joy, kindness, and collaboration as a directing/choreography team is a game changer, and to be in a room ran by the three of you is a true delight. Thank you for encouraging us to be present and to remain students of the process- I’m so grateful for the things I’ve learned in the two months we spent mounting this gorgeous beast. And extra special shout out to my dear sweet love @ariellaserur who has been my rock during this process and remained patient and loving as ever as we navigate the longest time we’ve been apart in our four+ years together. REGENCY GIRLS is now playing @theoldglobe in San Diego! Come take a carriage trip with 4 women on a quest for reproductive rights in the year 1810! It may be all British accents and frilly dresses, but just like today… if a woman wants to exercise her right to choose, it increasingly involves a road trip — across the state to its lone abortion provider. The hilarious script is by TV comedy heavyweights Jen Crittenden & Gaby Allan. Songwriters Amanda Green & Curtis Moore, director/choreographer Josh Rhodes and music supervisor James Sampliner invited me to do some additional musical arrangements. Proud to work with these artists on such a prescient, original musical. 1 Isabelle McCalla, Kate Rockwell, Ryann Redmond and Krystina Alabado are all expertly silly/powerful 2 Here we are, all the @northwesternu alums on this production, including my college roommate Nicole Hudson — GO ‘CATS! 3 I love the Globe, the first regional theater I ever worked at… 4 …long enough ago that I remember former artistic director Jack O’Brien’s dog Pumpkin.
