dear softball,

there’s so much that i could write about you. you’ve been a part of my life for the last 18 years and just like that it’s time to let you go. one more game. five more minutes. that’s all every player ever wants after they play their last game. and it sounds crazy to say, but doing 21 outs at practice until we get it isn’t sounding so bad now.

as i sit here and reflect on the last 18 years, there’s so much good, bad, goofy, silly, and funny moments i could mention. from injuries, to winning championships, and to recently getting wrapped up in the tarp after only 5 of us were attempting to keep it from flying away.

but the one thing that someone will always remember about the game of softball is the people you meet along the way. the game of softball will come to an end, but you will always have the coaches and teammates to lean on and continue making memories with. we may not be spending every single day together at practice or games or on little hugo’s runs, but it’s so amazing to know that i have forever best friends. it’s been so awesome to develop with these coaches and teammates and it will be something i miss so much.

i wouldn’t be playing this game if it weren’t for my parents and family. the money spent on bats, gloves, cleats, traveling for tournaments, i am forever thankful for it all and i wouldn’t be the player i am without you guys.

and lastly, thank you to the good God above for this game and for this life. this all wouldn’t be possible without your gracious love for me and all these people in my life. i’ve never been perfect, but thank you for allowing me to use this game as a way to glorify and make your name known. Lord, would you continue to use me in a new way for your Kingdom as i transition into a new chapter in my life.

thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout the years while playing this game. i never thought the day would come where I have to finally hang up my cleats for good, but i am excited to see where the Lord will use me in this next stage of life!
