Pleural disease? No prob! Liz Card, APD for Curriculum and Simulation, held a phenomenal sim session for thoracentesis, chest tube placement, and needle decompression earlier this week. As guided by senior fellows and APPs, clinical fellows got hands on via high-fidelity models and used a standardized, competency based checklist to assess proficiency. Our intensivists and general pulmonologists, along with fellows, manage routine pleural disease and escalate to IP colleagues with complex needs or questions. #HopkinsPCCM #HopkinsMedicine #PCCMMatch2027 #SimulationEducation

I had no idea what I was getting into when @gabeohdang passed the baton to me 4 years ago. Some days were a literal GTA lobby, but this ended up being the greatest job I’ve ever had. It’s been an honor taking care of patients in Howard County, so many of them former teachers, family friends, or people I’d run into at Safeway or CA.

I’m beyond grateful for leadership that backed us and gave us the space to actually make things better for our units and our patients. The scale of what we got to do, and the conferences, presentations, and awards that came with it, still blows my mind.

Most of all, I couldn’t imagine gowning up for battle with a better crew. To every nurse, PCT, RT, and doc, I appreciate you more than you know for shaping me into the caregiver I am today. P.S I’ll be back for a rotation 😎

And with that, the 2024-2025 PA residents classes (surgical and critical care) comes to end. It definitely was challenging at times but these wonderful and talented individuals that I now call friends made the year with their banter, memes, b more licks stops and overall willingness to hangout whenever we had a free moment. I never will forget this year and I’m so glad we meet (and can’t wait to meet everyone again)

Onwards to Georgia for Cardiac Surgery

It’s always a bittersweet feeling to end one chapter & start a new one. 🥹

It feels like it’s been longer than 4 years but I can’t believe I’m finally moving on & it still doesn’t feel real yet lol so many memories & so many crazy stories from working on the Special Care Unit (SCU). I’ve definitely learned so much over the last 4 years and I’ve met some amazing people & made some of my closest friends in the process. Being a Patient Clerical Assistant (PCA) has been one of the only jobs so far that I have thoroughly enjoyed and loved what I did everyday to help my fellow nursing staff & our patients. Thank you to everyone who has shown respect & helped me along the way. Peace out SCU Crew, most of you will be missed! ♥️
