Novelty wallpaper

We leave, we miss things, we return.
And somehow the same porch light
looks different
because we’ve been gone.

I don’t think hardship makes things beautiful,
or that we need to suffer to know what is good.
Maybe contrast just teaches us how to notice
warmth after being cold,
a familiar face after a long absence,
the strange tenderness of coming home.

Maybe that’s part of why we leave,
and part of why we return
to find out what still has us.

Sometimes we come back and something in us says
oh, there you are.
Sometimes we return and realize
the magic belonged to another season,
another version of ourselves.
And sometimes leaving is how we learn
what we want to keep choosing.

I don’t think the answer is making every day exciting
Novelty becomes wallpaper too.
Maybe what keeps life shiny is something smaller

Things become precious partly because they aren’t continuous.
Seasons end. People wander. Light changes.
We get bored. We forget to look.

Then one evening the same road home catches the sunset differently,
someone laughs in a way we’ve heard a hundred times,
or we return to some small ritual we’d forgotten we loved,
and suddenly we are inside our lives again.

The ordinary becomes strange.
The familiar becomes beloved.

Maybe that’s all ritual really is
this happens all the time,
but I am going to notice this particular time.

The best way to begin October, celebrating friends, swimming in the ocean, having good food, crafting, and playing games.
Life is special and community is a gift.

Having a colorful wedding has always been a dream of mine, but @noodlin.around and I didn’t just want bright tablecloths and vibrant flowers. We wanted to create a fully immersive, monochrome-themed celebration of our love!! A total color collaboration where every single guest was a precious part of the art. We poured our entire hearts into planning this big day, but honestly, it never would have been possible without our incredible community. Our friends and family helped us pull off the biggest party of our lives so far, and I couldn’t feel more grateful to each and every person who showed up to support us.

Looking through these photos, I can still feel the energy of the full spectrum of loved ones who make our world feel so complete. This is just the first look at the magic we all made together. I wanted to start by celebrating the colors that represent our life, our love, and the people who hold us. Welcome to our biggest creative project and our favorite masterpiece. Welcome to our colorful love story. More to come soon!

An endless thank you to everyone who captured the sweetest moments during our wedding including @loveyou.nadine @claclaireire @lilysphotography01 @nate_ross @lizlevitch

These are my monkeys! This is my circus!🤪
The grassy bar shenanigans, clownery and wildlife wonders that make you have fomo when you aren’t at work. This is my annual oyster farm appreciation post as I fly away from my favorite place and best friends😢 But I will be back in no time❤️ Much love for the funniest coworkers, the beautiful bay, and last but not least, the millions of oysters.
