The moment I saw online that @gabyteemua from @alamarcosmetics was doing pop-ups at the Miami Lakes Farmers Market, I immediately zoomed over! 💄✨🏃🏻‍♀️ Not only did I finally get to meet one of my favorite beauty founders in person, but she also gave me a mini makeover which made the experience even more special. I’ve always loved Alamar because it feels so unapologetically Cuban. From the vibrant colors and bold energy to the product names inspired by Cuban culture (cafe con leche bronzer, amor de melocotón colorete blush?? Sign me up!), landmarks, and our shared experiences, the brand captures so much of what makes our community unique. As two Cubanas, we had a wonderful conversation about entrepreneurship, authenticity, and the importance of building from who you are rather than who others expect you to be. Gabriela shared that early on she was encouraged not to focus on a Latino audience because it was considered too “niche.” Yet today, Alamar stands as proof that embracing your culture can be your greatest strength. Latinos are a powerful, growing force in American culture and business. And here in Miami, our stories, traditions, and creativity help define the very fabric of the city.
