August 1st and 2nd, I attended the 2026 edition of Northwest Hardcore Fest, at the Off Beat in Portland OR. This was such an amazing time all around and I enjoyed this even more than last year's Northwest Hardcore Fest!

My top favorite sets in no particular order were : Dead Heat, Iron Front, Slime, All Out War, Dying Wish, Doomsday, Misery Whip, The Flail, Soul Search, Scalp, Witness Chamber, Barrio Slam, Gag, Forced to Suffer, Sewn Shut and As the Life Leaves Your Eyes.

Hard to think of a place that has meant more to me over the last several years than the PV Lounge. Chuck created a space that has been a home for rockers and freaks and various other insane people for a lot longer than I have been involved, and we owe him an eternal debt for that. A man who cared deeply about fostering and allowing a community to thrive, often at his own expense. His will has been continued to be carried out by the staff while he fought his battle (especially @sleasywonder + @bicycl3j3sus + more who I don’t have ig for), and I hope he is finally resting comfortably.
He and his bar were messy, unpolished, and unpredictable. Sometimes he wouldn’t even be there to open the bar when there was a show scheduled, but he always made it there. You could call and at the drop of a hat throw a gig there the same day, and he was always happy to see whatever kind of bullshit you would start playing. Had some of the best times in my life in there, got engaged in there, have had hundreds of people in there who all came together just to help Chuck. PV may not be over yet (we can only hope) but the man who made it what it is has finally left us.
He was my friend and I will miss him dearly.
RIP Chuck you were a madman and a legend
