POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Filipino American History Month is the perfect time to celebrate the businesses, creators, professionals, and organizations that help make San Diego’s Filipino community what it is. 🇵🇭

From coffee and Filipino food to beauty, wellness, local makers, professional services, and community organizations, this list is full of places and people worth knowing and supporting.

Some are longtime favorites, some are businesses we personally know and love, and some may be new to you.

Save this post for later, share it with a friend, repost it to your Stories, and tag a Filipino-owned business or organization we missed so we can keep the list growing.

Let’s celebrate Filipino American History Month by showing up for the community, supporting local, and helping more people discover these businesses.

Maraming salamat to @samahandance for putting together another successful year of their Annual Philippine Cultural Arts Festival @samafest_sandiego last month. Connecting with the community, meeting both new and familiar faces will always fill my heart. @exploretonap, @prof_trishg and all the parents of the littles who poured their heart into the Kids Corner; you were amazing.

Because of everyone’s incredible support last month $160 went to @angatbuhay

Angat Buhay is a prominent Philippine non-profit that mobilizes massive volunteer networks to deliver disaster relief, food packs, and medical assistance to affected families. Most recently Angat Pampanga, Angat Bayanihan Volunteer Network, delivered hot meals prepared by Kusina ng Pag-asa partner kitchens to families in a community that remain heavily flooded in Pampanga.

Your continued support helps Little Yellow Jeepney sustain this response and bring support directly to families who are harmed by the suffering of the Earth.

This club has always been bigger than the tee sheet.

It’s the people who show up, the groups we connect with, the local businesses and partners who support what we’re doing, and the causes we get to show up for along the way.

Fun gets it started. Competition gives it energy. Community is what makes it matter.

Community Always.
This is HHGC.

April is Filipino Food Month 🇵🇭

And if you know anything about Filipino culture… you know food is never just food.

It’s how we connect.
It’s how we show love.
It’s how we take care of each other.

Sitting around the table with Jocelyn, the founders of Lumpia Cup, and Luna and her husband from Luna’s Lumpia, sharing a meal they prepared for us, it turned into something more than just great food.

It turned into stories.

Comfort foods that take you back to childhood.
Dishes your parents or grandparents made that you can never quite replicate the same way.
The meals that just hit different because of who made them.

For me, it’s dinuguan. For others, sinigang, kare kare… and for some, it’s simply anything their mom makes.

And then there’s this.

Growing up, sometimes “I’m sorry” didn’t come out as words.
It came out as, “Did you eat?”

Because in Filipino culture, food is the language.

It’s how we show up for each other.
It’s how we make things right.
It’s how we stay connected.

Grateful for moments like this. Good food, good people, and a reminder of where we come from.

Still smiling from the Lumpia Cup and all the incredible moments packed into one day.

From spending time with players and organizers, to hitting the green alongside the teams, this event was a meaningful celebration of culture, connection, and community. It was especially powerful to see a representative from the Senator’s office recognizing the tournament and honoring the organizers who continue to pour so much into making it happen.

Events like this are a reminder of how much heart, history, and pride live within our community. The Lumpia Cup brings people together in such a special way, and we’re grateful to be part of it alongside so many passionate leaders, families, and neighbors.

So many moments. So much joy. So much to celebrate.
Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, players, and everyone who showed up and made this day unforgettable.

What an incredible weekend at the Lumpia Cup. 🇵🇭⛳️

Jay and I were honored to be part of this amazing tournament for the second year in a row, celebrating Filipino culture, community, and a little friendly competition, all while giving back to an important cause that supports children in the Philippines.

From cruising around on golf carts, connecting with so many great people, and talking everything from favorite Filipino dishes to golf swings to beach house vs golf course debates, the energy all day long was so special.

And yes, it came down to a nail-biter playoff as Team Lomahan defended their title. Proud to say they pulled out the win, but truly, the real win is being part of a community that shows up with so much heart.

Huge congratulations to @happyhourgolfclub and @gainmana for putting on such a meaningful and well-run event. You should be incredibly proud. And how special to see this tournament recognized by @senbrianjones for uplifting and bringing together the Filipino community.

Already looking forward to next year and many more to come.
