A Carnival of Works: J. Alghadban & Abbas Yousif at L’Ambassade, Dubai. ⭐️

Nearly three decades after their joint exhibition at Kufa Gallery in London in 1998, the two artists’ works come together once again in a presentation organised by Forat Haider of Forat Gallery (@foratarts @galleryforat).

Bringing together works from the original exhibition alongside newer pieces, the presentation revisits the artists’ distinct approaches to printmaking and works on paper, with a personal dimension through Forat.

Opening this week in Dubai, Forat Gallery (@galleryforat) presents the solo exhibition of Kuwaiti artist Samia Al-Sayed Omar at La Palmeraie, Jumeira (15–18 May 2026).

Born in Kuwait in 1947, Samia Al-Sayed Omar showed an early affinity for the plastic arts, going on to earn a Master of Drawing from the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid in 1971. Her formative years in Madrid immersed her in the rigorous draughtsmanship of the Spanish academic school while exposing her to the crosscurrents of late European modernism that shaped the city’s cultural landscape during the final decades of the Franco era. Her subsequent studies — spanning an Arabic Diploma (1986), Interior Design at ICS Pennsylvania, Secretarial Studies and Accounting in Canada, and a certification in Teaching English to Non-Native Speakers — speak to a restless intellectual curiosity and a worldview shaped by the full spectrum of humanistic inquiry.

Samia Al Sayed Omar‘s first solo exhibition in Dubai 🇦🇪

During Art Dubai 2026, Forat Gallery presents a focused exhibition of works by Kuwaiti artist Samia Al Sayed Omar, whose paintings move through memory, domestic space, displacement, and the interior emotional worlds carried by women across generations. Spanning works from 1990 to 2023, the presentation traces an artist deeply committed to preserving emotional memory and the lingering psychological textures of lived experience.

“It’s her first solo show in Dubai, and it feels especially important to spotlight underrepresented local talent. Besides, she is among the very few artists from her generation to have graduated from Madrid’s prestigious San Fernando School of Fine Arts in 1971.”

Who the Canon Forgot: Sameeha Rajab and the Work of Remembering

This editorial revisits the legacy of Sameeha Rajab (@sameeha.rajab), a foundational yet under-theorized figure in Gulf modernism. Rather than framing her career through “firsts,” it positions Rajab as a structural contributor whose practice helped shape the visual language of modern art in Bahrain and the wider Arab world. 💫
