Our recent visit to Gallop Stable was a reminder that some of the best learning happens outside the classroom🍃

Many of the horses at Gallop Stable are retired racehorses that have been given a second chance at life through retraining and care. What a privilege for children to get up close to these magnificent animals and learn their stories. (gallopstable.com)

For some children, this visit was exciting.
For others, it was overwhelming.

After all, horses are much bigger than us. They move unpredictably. We don’t always know what they’re going to do next.

These are the moments I love most as an educator. When children learn they can do hard things by experiencing it first hand.

Instead of asking, “Are you scared?”, we help children make sense of what they’re experiencing.

“The horse is much bigger than us.”
“We’re not sure how it’s going to move.”
“I’m going to stay right here with you.”

When adults provide calm, confident leadership, children are more willing to step forward into the unknown.

That is what supported struggle looks like✨

A horse stable might seem like an unusual place to build resilience, but we watched it happen over and over again that day: one hesitant hand reaching out to feed a horse, one cautious step towards a pony, one child discovering they were capable of more than they thought.

Experiences like these are why outdoor learning will always be an important part of childhood.🌻

🐴 Stable Tour & Pony Riding
Today, our explorers had a fun time at Gallop Stable! The children enjoyed a guided tour, learned the differences between horses and ponies, and got hands-on grooming and feeding them before taking a joyful ride. Children asked interesting questions like “how old are they?”, “how to know whether they are angry or happy?” and “how to train them for riding?”.

A hidden gem at Pasir Ris Park
At Gallop Stable, the kids got to feed and ride the horses. Definitely the highlight of the day!

There’s also fun activities like baking glue painting, and more for the little ones. Perfect weekend family outing with lots of hands-on fun and outdoor vibes.

🐴🌻🚶#老朋友趴趴走 @papazaosg isn't just a walk; it is a 'Friends Adventure' quest through the park. Teams navigated the route, stopping at checkpoints and celebrating at the end point with songs. The sight of hundreds energetic walkers strolling round the park made it a uniquely heartwarming community memory! Photo by l' amour on January 04, 2026. May be an image of one or more people, plant and park.
