HOME ON CAMBRIDGE ROAD How it started vs. How it’s going: 🏗️✨ We took two independent 3BHK flats in Bengaluru and stitched them into a single, 6BHK family sanctuary. From structural overhauls to hand-carved stone details, every corner was redesigned to feel calm, safe, and cozy. Watch the transition from a construction site to a modern retreat with deep Indian roots. It’s all in the details. 🔍 Our design philosophy for this Bengaluru home was a "serene, minimalist canvas" layered with rich, traditional textures. ✨ Terracotta-colored IPS walls for warmth. ✨ Leather-finish limestone for sophistication. ✨ Custom-carved stone for a nod to our roots.

HOME ON CAMBRIDGE ROAD Level up!
🎲✨ We took the upper level of this Bangalore apartment and reimagined it entirely. By merging the old living and dining zones, we created a dedicated sanctuary for what matters most: quality family time. From a custom-built board game table (look at those tray attachments for snacks, wine glass and cards!) to cozy reading nooks and curated displays, this lounge is all about slow Sundays and competitive game nights. A relaxed, casual escape just one flight of stairs away.

We believe a guest room should feel less like a spare room and more like a sanctuary. For this project, we wanted to create a tactile iournev from the moment vou step
.
In the bedroom (Slide 1), we carved out a "room within a room" by raising the floor and lowering the ceiling with woven cane. It's the perfect nook for morning coffee or losing vourself in a book or morning yoga. The band of ochre on the walls adds just the right amount of grounding warmth against the airv white.
.
Swipe to see the bathroom (Slide 2) where we went moodv and dramatic. The walls are wrapped in a textured terracotta finish, creating a cozy, cave-like calm. We balanced that raw texture with crisp geometric tiles for a touch of modern rhythm.

HOME ON CAMBRIDGE ROAD
We designed these bespoke home office spaces to be havens of focus and inspiration. One is rich with warm tones, dark wood, and a bold blue wall for that touch of drama (Image 1). The other embraces light, airy wood framing, and a lovely flow connecting the space to the rest of the home (Image 2).

On the lower floor, we completely reconfigured the layout. We expanded the kitchen, giving it a spacious, closed-off design and connecting it to both the dining area and the utility room. This fulfilled the clients' need for a dedicated culinary space. An old bedroom was converted into a bright and functional home office for the wife, while the previous dining area was transformed into a stunning "color block cave." The dining space features terracotta-colored IPS walls and ceiling and cement flooring by @bharatfloorings , complemented by custom-made terracotta lights by Earaliving_studio that create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

HOME ON CAMBRIDGE ROAD
Our clients had purchased two 3BHK flats, one on top of the other with a clear vision: to transform the two separate units into a single, cohesive, and tranquil home that perfectly suited their lifestyle. Their request was for a space that felt calm, safe, and cozy, with a modern aesthetic that subtlv nodded to Indian traditions. The focus was on creating intimate zones for family activities, such as reading and playing board games, rather than a large space for entertaining. The renovation was an extensive spatial reorganization. We began by physically connecting the two floors with a custom-designed staircase--a sleek metal structure with warm wooden treads, anchored by a unique stone column featuring delicate Indian carvings. This element became a central artistic focal point, blending the modern and traditional styles seamlessly

HOME ON CAMBRIDGE ROAD
Our primary goal was to transform two separate apartments into a cohesive and functional duplex home for a familv of four humans & two cats. The kev concepts guiding the design were blending modern aesthetics with a nod to Indian heritage, ensuring the space was easy to maintain, and making it kid-friendly without sacrificing style.

"The true essence of architecture lies in the experience it evokes, not just its visual form."

Design Philosophy

The design paradigm prioritizes experiential quality over visual aesthetics. Given the site's constraints, with three orientations abutting neighboring residences and the east-facing orientation bordering the main approach road and public park, the design leverages this singular orientation to maximize natural light and ventilation.

Spatial Strategy

The residence is designed to optimize daylight harvesting and cross-ventilation. Large openings on the east facade facilitate natural light penetration, while smaller openings on the west façade provide controlled ventilation, creating a comfortable indoor climate.

Facade Design

The facade's modern aesthetic is characterized by clean lines, minimalist ornamentation, and a nuanced balance of solids and voids. The design elements are carefully composed to create a visually appealing and contextually responsive building envelope."

ma+rs: The site is a typical 30’ x 50’ peri-urban parcel of land located in the south of Bangalore, Electronic city. Trapped on three sides by plots that eventually will have neighboring houses, only the front opens out to the road allowing for the provision of light & ventilation to the house. The idea was to ensure maximum availability of light and ventilation without negotiating the privacy of its inhabitants.

The brief provided by the client was accommodating a one-and-a-half-bedroom rental unit on the ground floor & a three-bedroom single-family home on the upper floors. Sticking to the core idea of creating well-lit and ventilated private spaces within the realm of the house, the upper residence is planned around a triple-height light well. With the foresight that houses would come up on three sides – the fenestrations on them have been kept nominal, small & functional allowing for cross ventilation. The front facade has a dynamic operable perforated metal screen, creating a dappled effect when light filters through it capitalizing on the light coming in while minimizing overlooking.

The entrance to the first floor has an outdoor foyer that leads to the public functions of the house – an open-plan living, dining & kitchen, and a guest bedroom. The staircase runs along the central light well connecting all the spaces. The upper floor houses the private spaces – the primary bedroom, kid’s bedroom & the family lounge.
