This cave room in Cappadocia felt unreal 🤍
Jacuzzi, private hamam, sauna and that view, all inside one room carved into the rock. Honestly the best stay of my whole Turkey trip. @gamirasu

I wanted to feel Cappadocia.

The balloons were amazing — completely surreal — and I’m so glad I did them.

But I didn’t go to Göreme at all.
I chose little Ayvalı because I wanted quiet. Old stone. A village. Space to wander around and actually feel where I was rather than rush through another place ticking things off.

And then I found Gamirasu Cave Hotel.
My room was carved during the Roman period in the 2nd century. Over all those years it had been used by Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans — as a bedroom, a pigeon house, storage and even a place to hang grapes through winter.

Roman. Byzantine. Ottoman.

All had been held by the same walls.

I say in the video, “I can feel the history in my bones.”
I really could.

Türkiye keeps doing this to me. You walk down an ordinary little village street and realise there are thousands of years of human lives underneath, beside and around you.

And then I wandered into Şelalem Home Cooking.
This was another one of those spontaneous little finds that comes from wandering. Food coming from the land around you, cooked simply and generously and such a beautiful welcome. They also do a local cooking experience/class which I really wish I’d had time to stay and do.

From the land to your belly. ❤️

I’m slowly making my way across to Munich to meet Mimi for Oktoberfest, travelling solo, on a budget and making most of it up as I go.
Buses (lots!). Ferries. Backpacks. Small towns. Cheap beds. The occasional thing worth spending money on. And quite a lot of changing my mind. 😂

I’ve shared my travels here for many years and it feels really good to be travelling and sharing them again.
Not because I want to make travel look perfect.
More because I want to show what’s actually possible.
Especially as a woman travelling on her own.

Cappadocia wasn’t only the balloons for me.

It was this.

So grateful. Thank you ✨️🙏

I think I had a bit too much künefe for dessert today, so I’m turning in early. But every explorer needs their sleep to start the next adventures well-rested! 😴😴🌛

Just checked into my next stop, the Gamirasu Cave Hotel, and claimed the Sultan Suite right away! The mattress check gets a 5-star rating! Everything here is very peaceful and laid-back—a fantastic pool and plenty of chill-out zones—exactly my style! 🤗🌞🦥

Gamirasu Cave Hotel’in büyüleyici atmosferinden ilham alarak hazırladığım bu özel projede, otelin dokusuna gizlenmiş detayları keşfettim.
