#Kozhikamuthi in the evenings is a magical place to be, irrespective of the season. But that #August evening, the river was in full flow, the hills were clear without any haze and the forest around donned a lush green garb. The rains have cast their magical spell on the landscape. The #clouds creeping silently up the #Anamalai #hills and the clear, blue evening skies that formed a perfect backdrop and the golden rays just moments before the sunset, all combined to create a #magical atmosphere that evening. In the image is Ramu, an aged #tusker from the camp, on his way to get his feed of ragi balls for that evening. #anamalais #pollachi #pollachipapyrus #thadamexperiences #elephantcamp #sunset #elephantlove #topslip #westernghats #nature #travel

From the #nightfall series - We got down from our jeeps and walked to a vantage point where we could see clearly the Great Pied Hornbills – the estate’s crowning glory. We stood there quietly listening to the reverberating sounds of the jungle around in near darkness. The hornbills called out to their pairs, as they fed on some more Maesopsis. When they flew, I heard the whooshes of their heavy wings – a terrifying yet breathtaking sound to hear in still darkness. Dholes have the distinction of being among the few forest-dwelling carnivores that live in large social groups. The adults of the pack partake in coordinated hunts in dense forests and manage to bring down prey such as spotted deer, sambar deer and gaurs, which much larger than the dholes themselves. Lingesh Kalingarayar, our Naturalist and photographer, photographed this sensational hunting series, of a pack of dholes trying to bring down a Sambar deer, in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve.
