“Life isn’t fair” my parents used to tell me when I would complain about something not being fair. And they were right, life isn’t fair. Some people go too soon, and some don’t go soon enough. It’s easy to get caught up in the negativity of how objectively unfair so many components of life are. So many people will put their short term interests over anything else, the way billionaires put being the richest man in the graveyard above having a better world for our children to live in. It can be debilitating to continue to try and do the right thing when so many around refuse to, but all it takes is one bit of hope to reinvigorate, to throw off that weight. There are good things happening in the world; continue to be the best people we can be, to find joy in the daily grind of life, to care for each other more than we care about ourselves, to build community based on love and happiness, and we continue to be a bulwark of light against all the darkness that threatens our worlds individually and collectively. Things aren’t getting easier, but it gets easier to do those things when you have similarly positive people standing on either side of you. You grow through what you go through; the ashes of the fire fertilize the soil for the next season of growth. I’m thankful for the opportunity I have to continue to make myself and the people closest to me, alive or otherwise, proud, the opportunity to change the world in some small way for the better. I’m thankful for a chance to build a future with @gapteef420, and with all the happiness that entails. Thanks for being here with me friends, you all make life worth living. And worth loving. Cheers!
