New in the gallery: a delightfully fine flock of Dallas Gara's handcrafted wooden songbirds - some with a beautiful mosaic pattern!

Made with maple, padauk and redwood, among others. They are approximately 5" tall x 9" long.

Congratulations to Dallas Gara on winning the 2025 People’s Choice Award for his Heirloom Rocking Chair! 🏆👏

Chosen by popular vote at the Fine Works in Wood Exhibition, Dallas’s work captured the attention and admiration of visitors throughout the show.

As part of his award, Dallas selected a Veritas Bevel-Up Smoother Plane with PM-V11 Blade, generously provided by our Legacy Sponsor, Lee Valley Tools @leevalleytools . ✨

We’re proud to celebrate his achievement and look forward to seeing what he creates next!

What the jury said:
“Love the through rails on back and how cut out detail was carried to the side. Amazing flow. Screams motion. Possibly another level from Maloof. Great through lines and consistent design choices. Great sense of proportion. No bad angles for viewing it.”

I wish I would’ve kept more progress pictures on the rocker build. Maybe on the next one. Watch to the end to see my personal chair inspector. 😎✌🏼#sculptedrocker #customrockingchair #maloofstylerocker #rockingchair
