Newport Beach Film Festival proudly presents the North American Premiere of DREAM TEAM from Czechia/Czech Republic on Sunday, October 18. A Q&A with screenwriters Peter Kolecko and Jakub Prachar will follow the screening.

DREAM TEAM
Marek, an unsuccessful basketball coach whose disabled son dreams of participating in the Paralympics in Rio, is unable to put together a team of disabled athletes, so he hires healthy basketball players to pretend to be disabled.

Synopsis: A violent, reckless samurai is shipwrecked on a desolate island, stripped of any outlet for his rage. As he embarks on a punishing spiritual journey to quiet his turbulent mind, the line between meditation and madness begins to blur. When external demons—manifesting as flesh-hungry cannibals—abduct him, his grip on reality and mastery of the blade are tested in ways he never imagined.

PLEASE NOTE EARLIER SCREENING TIME - ‘A Quiet Love’ is an intimate and moving film that follows three Deaf couples as they share their extraordinary love stories, through sign language: a decades-long forbidden romance across a religious divide, a same-sex couple navigating parenthood with Deaf and hearing children, and a Deaf boxer and his hearing partner facing a life-altering choice.
A cinematic celebration of resilience, connection, and enduring love; featuring an immersive soundscape, this award-winning film offers a beautiful insight into the world of Deaf people. It is Ireland’s first feature film in Irish Sign Language, produced by a Deaf and hearing team and directed by award-winning filmmaker Garry Keane (In the Shadow of Beirut). Tickets from link in bio or @newportbeachfilmfest website.

‘If we didn’t do everything we weren’t supposed to, we’d hardly do anything at all.’

Finishing up the posts about my #RingsOfPower adventures at #SDCC2024 with sharing about the amazing people I was able to meet and share these memories with.

After the meet and greet, we were able to enjoy some food and drinks at the party and then partake in a few of the photo ops. Then it was rest and recharge before heading to the @theoneringnet panel for the #WarOfTheRohirrim and the state of the fandom as a whole with @hautespencer and @lady_of_andunie .

Not gonna lie. At this point in the day, my energy was pretty much gone and I was close to falling asleep so I headed out a bit earlier than intended just so I could catch up on much needed sleep.

Thank you so much to every single person I met this last weekend and who helped make this Con definitely one for the books. I am forever grateful for your kindness and friendship and all the laughs and good times. Next up is Star Wars at SDCC but that is for tomorrow’s post. 😅
