Round 2!! Fun night with @average.friends at the MTV VMA After Party. Playing my @paistecymbals Dark Energy set up. Looking to add a masters series hi-hat to the mix. We ran into some technical issues with the rig but we survived. Always fun performing the Mr. Wanderlust room at Level 8. Thank you to @amber_martinez_official and @adamglove for having us!

Got to do a little medley of some of my older tunes during my set for @sofarsounds a couple weeks back. “Vitamin E” just had a birthday 🎂 @jawnmajor and @sambekt If I think too long about the fact that this song just turned 5 years old I might spiral 🫣 but what a beautiful insane 5 years it has been

“Mean Time” is out today.

This is the first thing I’ve put out in a few years, and the first under the Common Loon name. While I’d like to say this marks a new chapter, this song ridicules the very idea of dividing your life into chapters, and regards attachments to symbols, names, and language itself with suspicion if not outright derision.

Therefore in honor of its own fallibility I will say: this marks a new chapter.

This chapter is one of: playing a lot of guitar, singing softly, releasing ego from the production process and letting songs run loose and dally with genius of collaborators. It is one of eating sausage rolls, letting plants die, and trying to know less and less every day.

This song is one of my absolute favorites, and I want to earnestly thank everyone without which it would not exist:
@sean_rogan_ for giving this song legs (AKA a b-section) and for making me a mean cup of tea
@differentchairs for extracting its soul, for the cowrite and for extremely important bleeps and bloops
@jeremygustin for supplying an undeniable drum track
@garthtim for the fretless bass fill that is my favorite 2 seconds of the song
@canyouldcme for randomly walking by and suggesting that Zach pick up the fretless bass
@kristenelaw for influencing my life in infinite ways, big and small and for supporting me through the dumb little vicissitudes of releasing music
