Some scenes from printing this week for @gary.panter at Rice University in Houston, Texas. The Comic Art Teaching and Study Workshop is a hybrid teaching/research/comics production space within the Department of Art @arts.rice run by Associate Professor Christopher Sperandio aka @pinko_joe -- Master Printer Pat Masterson @patrick.masterson1 is a Professor of Practice at Rice. Their Diverse Outcomes in Graphic Studies undergraduate research group (or DOGS Workshop) assisted Chris and Pat as they produced six Risograph editions, a four-color screen print and two etchings on three plates. Thanks to Gary Panter for making all those prints with us and being a stellar guest for the week. Special thanks to Creative Ventures @riceuniversity for the funding and the @ricehumanities for their continued support for the arts at Rice.

It was a wonderful week hosting living legend @gary.panter in our studios. We made 2 etchings on three plates, a 4-color screen print and six different Risograph prints. Gary was incredibly generous and signed everybody's stuff. The look of joy in the faces of our students was gratifying. He's a kind and generous soul. Do yourself a favor and invite him to your school to make prints!

See you TODAY from noon to 1pm at 343 Sarofim Hall on the @riceuniversity campus to meet @gary.panter and to see the prints produced in our shops with our DOGS Printmaking Research Group. A screen print, some etchings and three or four Risograph prints. The DOGS days are over, indeed!

I found myself taking a slice out of this brisk Autumn afternoon to check out the “Print Catalyst @ 30”exhibit at Yale University Art Gallery and was really happy to stumble upon this screenprint collaboration “Miracle” between Gary Panter and Luther Davis. I wish I could’ve watched it done live but seeing the sequential color-passes was the next best thing!

I hope our @gary.panter can help solve a mystery...in RAW Volume 1 #6 (1984) there's a 9-page "Jimbo" wherein Jimbo and a demon, Smoggo, have survived a nuclear blast. Smoggo is comforting a dying woman. He talks to her, and the word ballon contains two sets of dialogue, each written on top of the other (as was often Gary's wont at the time). In Photoshop I've separated the two sets of dialogue to try to suss them out. Gary, is this correct?

"Yes, for you physicality is a memory, an ancient life, another fleeting set of days, of lessons but now I must eat."

"carrion carnitas corpse carnales"

Thank you @printedmatter_artbookfairs for another incredible weekend. A four day show, an ominous storm, thousands of art books setup in a tent, what could go wrong? ☔️😈 the universe said no, but the book freaks said YES. Best year yet!

Thank you to all of our artists for the trust, we are honored. We released five new books at the show (working on the packages now 🐻) thank you for your patience!

Immense gratitude to the fair organizers Sunny, SGP, Maia, and all the Printed Matter workers and volunteers.

Also Thanks to all our anonymous models and pets for graciously allowing me to take your pic while posing to read a comic haha ❤️‍🔥
